My friends and I spent 4 days in Fairbanks at the end of February; we rented 2 cabins at Riverbend. The equipment in carbons which are complete prepared and it feels very comfortable and warm. Riveebend is not far away from city center by car, the surrounding environment where is also a suitable place to see the northern light. The owner, Debi & Bruce are very friendly and enthusiastic; they gave us lots of help when we suffered some difficulties. We are very grateful for their assistance, and have had a very memorable trip in Alaska.
Riverbend definitely will be my first choice for next time to Fairbanks.
This was our second time spending a week at Riverbend with the best hosts ever – Debi, Bruce and their black lab, Molly. Last March we stayed in the Sourdough Cabin, which is perfect for a couple, and this March we stayed in the Chinook Cabin as we brought along our niece. The Chinook is bigger than the Sourdough and has a second bedroom just off of the master bedroom. An accordion style door separates the two rooms, but it worked out perfectly. There was a loaf of homemade blueberry bread and a jar of honey waiting for us when we arrived. The bread was delicious and it turns out the honey was from their own beehive. The cabin was beautifully decorated and we had a “fake” fireplace in the living room, which was really nice.
The Northern Lights were amazing and there is no need to drive anywhere to see them – just walk outside, or down the path to the Chena River, and there they are. We kept warm by the bonfire each evening and enjoyed the company of Bruce, Debi and the other guests.
Make sure that you hook up with Bruce for snow machining down the Chena River and surrounding forests. Our 25 year old niece had the best time – checked 3 things off her bucket list during this trip – Northern Lights, dog sledding and snow machining. You won’t be disappointed staying at Riverbend. Truly the best location and best hosts in Alaska.
Thanks Bruce and Debi - we'll see you again next year!!
It should first be noted that this is our first TA review...notable because we are frequent international travellers and have utilized all levels and styles of accommodation...we couldn't let this opportunity go by to share our wonderful experience at Riverbend. Deb and Bruce thought of everything when creating these beautiful cabins...we are pretty meticulous people and there wasn't a thing that we needed or looked for that wasn't available in the cabin...plus much more than one would reasonably expect, i.e. fresh coffee beans, delicious blueberry banana bread and honey that lasted the whole weekend, big jugs of fresh water, very courteous attention throughout the day and evening, including tips for activities and nightly alerts for aurora sightings with a cozy fire already started by the river. This couple deserves every word of praise that they receive...they're both very hard-working, thoughtful and genuine people that make the perfect hosts...and have created the perfect lodging befitting their fabulous setting. Well done, Deb and Bruce!!
My wife and I spent the last 5 days of our honeymoon in Fairbanks and stayed in the Sourdough Cabin at Riverbend. The cabin was perfect. Very warm, private, and away from the city which made good viewing of the Northern Lights right out the front of the cabin. The owners Debi and Bruce are very friendly and always happy to give advice on things to do in the area. This was the perfect end to our trip. Thank you Debi and Bruce. We hope to stay with you again.
We had a great time here. cosy lodge and easy access to excellent spots to see northern lights. Both the owners, Debi and Bruce, are kind and warmhearted.
Definitely will stay here next time to Fairbanks.
