Tired Hôtel in need of upgrade

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2024
Only stayed one night and glad. Hôtel is very tired and rooms need urgent update. The ceiling in my room was coming down and walls were grubby. Air conditioning was so loud had to switch it off. Staff were friendly and location was good for my work.

If I was reading this hotel on the staff and customer service only, I would have given it 5 stars. The ladies in the club lounge (Teresa, Margaret, and Jackie) were great during our entire stay. They welcomed us every morning and provided a great breakfast to start the day.

The hotel loses stars when it comes to upkeep. The walls were dirty, there was a hole in the wall in the bathroom. The carpet near the AC unit was gross and there was an odd white film on the walls under the windows. The elevators made me nervous because they jerked quite a bit. The lobby had an odd smell, that I can't say was awful but it wasn't pleasant.

I just thinks the whole could use a refresh and a good cleaning, but the staff are the real highlight here!

Room tip: You can get an Uber in minutes, we never waited more than 3-5 minutes.

Ty, the front desk agent, was by far the best front desk agent I’ve ever met and I traveled all over the world. We had a very difficult time getting here—flight canceled, luggage lost, etc. and he made sure we were taken care of. Every time we needed something, he was there to help. I think he should be a corporate trainer for Sheraton/Marriott as he is that good. Thank you Ty for a great stay!

Room tip: Use an Uber from the airport and ask for Ty in you need help at this hotel.

Nestled on the University of Pennsylvania campus, I was greeted cheerfully by Nezha. She's from Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. While sharing some pleasant conversation, she let me know I had been upgraded to this corner suite on the Club Floor. I have some amazing views and am relaxing for the night, which I needed after being on the go for two weeks. The trip from the airport was interesting. I skipped the airport express train, taking a bus and then a tram. Looking forward to a great week of professional development at the National Constitution Center.

Room tip: Two blocks from St. Agnes-St. James Catholic Church, where Mass is celebrated daily.

Room was pretty standard hotel room. We did have a nice view of the UPenn campus from the 10th floor.

Two issues: an old bar of open, used soap was left in the shower. Also, no complimentary breakfast with the price of the hotel per night is unacceptable.

Staff was friendly.
Parking was convenient, but pricey.

Overall, location to UPenn is what makes this hotel worth it.

Good location to access UPenn, children’s hospital and city center are well. Rooms were comfortable and clean and they brought us extra pillows and blankets on request. Nezha at the reception was super helpful and a very gracious host. Thank you, Nezha!
