Since we were focused on each other, and not the venue (though very clean), this place worked for us quite adequately. The lake "view" was being able to see a tiny patch of water through the trees at one point. The path to the lake was quite brushy (we picked up a tick in mid-June) and there is no incentive to take it since the lake bank is quite rough. Most of the beds were very comfortable and several of the mattresses were new. The bed linens were new and freshly laundered, and a search turned up quite a good supply of towels and washcloths in the laundry room bathroom. The kitchen is a small galley efficient for two cooks and needs work. New counter tops and a dishwasher that did not have to slammed shut to stay closed are needed. There was plenty of serving/eating dishes and tableware. More water heating power is needed to serve a group coming in from swimming in the lake (at a swim beach) or at nearby Turner Falls.. Another toilet and sink would be helpful to match the bed capacity. The backyard feels private and is great for outdoor groups. S'more kit thoughtfully provided. Plenty of indoor gathering spaces, with space for separate groupings. I would definitely rent again for a somewhat large group. Three very private bedrooms, with several semi-private beds. Caretaker next door was extremely helpful, and Rosemarie was a good communicator. Location is very convenient for many area attractions, with a nearby WalMart and local restaurants. Good for groups of over 6 people with singles or kids.
