This hotel is in a good location but lack some basics such as an actual lobby on the first floor or really much in the way of decor or amenities. It's narrow, dark and depressing in the "lobby" which consists of just the reception desk and a corridor leading to the elevators that has a bench. Paid breakfast is available in the 12th floor I understand but we were never told about any other amenities nor do I think there are any. The room was a decent size for Manhattan (queen bed plus sofabed was all we could get for our family of 4) - but the room smelled pretty strongly of mildew. I didn't find the staff helpful at check in. I have high status with Bonvoy and was eligible for an upgrade but she was dismissive when I mentioned that, stating brusquely that they were fully booked. (It's all in the delivery, lady!). I heard her offer the previous couple complimentary waters but not us - so I had to ask. We were on a family vacation and wish I had sprung for a place with at least a couple of frills or great service. As it was, I used Marriott points for our stay and it was the only Bonvoy hotel I could find at the time that would take my points vs cash. Location is fine in that it's right across the street from a subway stop and not far from 5th Ave and Central Park. We ended up checking out a day early (and losing those points) to continue our journey. I would not recommend this hotel.
