We consider ourselves frequent travellers and are regular visitors to the USA and particularly New York, and for this trip we wanted to live like 'New Yorkers' rather than book a hotel stay as we have done on past visits. Knowing the city so well prompted us to stay in the Upper West Side. We consulted TripAdvisor as usual and fell upon this amazing studio in precisely the location we wanted. We were not disappointed. The studio has all the amenities you could possibly want: a huge comfortable firm bed with a love seat sofabed for a third guest; a large flat screen TV with cable; telephone; excellent wifi; good functioning air-con; a dining table & chairs; closet with plenty of hangers, iron, ironing board & various equipment; a lovely 8 drawer chest affording us more than ample space for clothes; a well-equipped compact kitchen with stove, microwave, kettle, coffee-maker, toaster & fridge/freezer; a good-sized well-lit bathroom with shower, cabinet, plenty of towels, soap and toilet rolls. The decor, art and lamps were all tasteful and gave the studio a luxurious feel. We simply couldn't ask for anything more! The location was absolutely perfect for us being just around the corner from 72nd Street Subway Station serving the 1 local and 2 & 3 express lines with excellent links around the city being just 1 or a few stops from Times Square with multiple Subway lines and walkway to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There's a good restaurant across the street; a Chinese Takeaway a few hundred yards away on Amsterdam Avenue; a Subway Sandwich Shop, 2 Pizza Takeouts and McDonalds round the corner and a selection of shops nearby including a well stocked Wine Store and Trader Joes food market. We love to shop at Wholefoods and we reached the store at Columbus Circle either via the 1 local train 72nd Street to 59th Street or via the B & C Subway lines from 72nd Street near Central Park West to 59th Street. We often walked to the park just along the street which was lovely. The booking process with TripAdvisor was excellent and straight forward and we had absolute confidence that everything would be as it should be. The owner, Richard and his staff are very responsive and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank you so much! I would love to keep this place a secret so that we can come here again whenever we want but it's only fair to share as I make most of my travel decisions based upon TripAdvisor reviews.
