This was by far the worst experience I have had at a 5-star hotel. My mother and I booked this hotel for our weekend trip to NYC, with the previous notion that The Pierre has always been one of the the city's top hotels. From the moment we walked in, the lobby was void of staff and guests, and the entirety of the lobby, lounges, and restaurants were closed off (supposedly due to COVID-19). We are very mindful and aware of the current hotel precautions for COVID-19, but this was virtually the only hotel in the city that was closed off to this extent. We then arrived to our room (a Superior Room), which was the last room at the end of a hallway. The room was facing another building's windows and walls, meaning there was zero natural light; it was as if we had walked into a room facing an alleyway at a 2-star hotel in the city. The room was outdated, the water was not heating up, and there were no 21st century appliances in sight. We were also only provided with two bottles of water in our room throughout our trip. Later, my mother spoke to Anali at the reception about our utter disappointment with our room and experience thus far. Anali provided us with the worst customer service and attitude. She proudly accepted what my mother was saying about the 2-star hotel experience we have been having at this "5-star" hotel, and said that this is just the way things are unless we paid extra to upgrade. She did not offer to do anything for us to better our experience, and did not even crack a smile at any point throughout our 5-day stay. Based on my experiences at many 5-star hotels around the U.S. and the world, the hotel staff would immediately accommodate or attempt to better the guest's stay whether it is through a free minor upgrade, a bottle of champagne, or even a fruit basket. Additionally, there is only one singular restroom in the lobby for guests to use, so my mother had to wait 20 minutes just to freshen up before leaving. Upon checking out, we were not offered any help with our bags or the check-out process by any staff members, and were not even greeted. What a disastrous disappointment from New York's once prestigious 5-star hotel!

Staff was wonderful and the location is terrific. We walked all ove Central Park and down to Times Square. Got to know and appreciate the upper east side compared to other parts of Manhattan further south (which are a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to stay there)

We stayed in The Pierre 7 nights. This iconic and classic hotel is wonderful, a real “institution” in New York City. The COVID-19 measurements are kept with the highest standards I have seen since the pandemic started. The concierge Livette took care of all our personal requests as reservations, shipping issues, tickets and more. Last but not least, Anna from the reception was more than excellent, professional, always pleasant, offering the most suitable solutions for any request and verifying that all is at our highest satisfaction . Definitely a recommendation to follow.
