“Superb upper east side location; well-priced 2BR 1BA clean incredibly convenient”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed here in June 2015 for an extended stay after reviewing options in detail. The owner has over 40 excellent reviews for a number of NYC properties: on the basis of these reviews, Enchantment location, and online description we stayed here. The owner could not have been more accommodating and gracious. Directions to apartment were impeccable, picking up the keys at the lockbox easy, and she subsequently checked in by email to be sure there were no glitches. Security deposit was returned efficiently, in full, without issue.
Location: The apartment is superbly located on 1st Avenue around 61st St in a very safe neighborhood with three superb restaurants within a blocks as well as a bagel/pastry shop, and many more restaurants a short stroll away. On the 4th floor with windows not facing the street the apartment has absolutely no noise at night (important to us)—most appreciated. It is few blocks from the 59th/Lexington subway stop. One can walk to Central Park. Museum Mile, and various Midtown sites. The theater district is a longer walk or a short trip by various other means. A large well-stocked supermarket near the Queensborough Bridge is a two block walk.
Apartment: the apartment is lovely, the photos depicting it are accurate, and the description accurate. The walk up stairs to the 4th floor is fine. The kitchen is well-equipped (dishes/utensils for four easily; dishwasher pellets for dishwasher; coffee machine worked well, and had filters. All appliances are modern and clean). The three room air-conditioners work well and no noisier than a window AC unit would be expected to be. Both bedroom beds are comfortable (and the couch in the living room can be made flat to accommodate a 5th person). Wireless internet service is excellent and easy to access. Though other reviews have mentioned suboptimal linens, the owner has replaced and upgraded them [no longer a problem]. I think the comments of another reviewer from May 27 2015 are inaccurate (plumbing just fine: the bathroom is very nice, with good water pressure, hot water, and no issues in plumbing whatsoever; the table is small but accommodates three for breakfast when we moved it temporarily into the living room and used the three available chairs [with a 4th available in the closet if you need it]. Good use of space is essential in New York where apartments invariably are small. There is a quarter-fed washer and dryer in the basement (and a bank a few blocks away graciously exchanged two rolls of quarters for a $20 bill)

Some other suggestions for a visitor to Manhattan:
1) look into the app TodayTix for last minute Broadway and off-Broadway shows, usually discounted. This is an efficient and complete app far easier to use than the various websites I have visited. Tickets are purchased via the App and given to you in person outside the venue 30 minutes before the show
2) If traveling to/from JFK or LaGuardia airports, my advice, especially for a family of four regarding convenience and cost, is to arrange in advance a limo (such as from Carmel Limo—reliable; excellent app) and ask to access Manhattan via the Queensborough Br (rather than a tunnel): fare is $52]
3) Metro pass for a week is easy to pick up at first subway visit. If you use it twice a day (and you'll likely do more than that) it is less expensive than a la carte. (Alternatively pick up a pass and refill it at least $10 at a time.)
4) if you have kids, spend time at the Am Museum of Natural History (including the shows; spend a day) and walk there through Central Park [a 45 min stroll], the 9-11 memorial museum [3+ hrs], and both the Metropolitan Museum of Art [spend the day, or a week!] and Museum of Modern Art [at least 3-4h]. If you don't have kids, do the same!
5) If unsure of your interest (or tolerance of children) in a museum, consider the free admission times (eg Friday evening at MOMA)

Next time in NYC we will again choose one of Juliana Kim's apartments, and we are fairly discriminating in our well-researched choices. We feel we have made a friend in addition to finding a superb base from which to visit Manhattan.

“Would stay again but some simple improvements are needed”

We traveled from London to Newark Airport in April 2015 in a family of 4 with two teenagers. For anyone thinking of doing the same.... We got a yellow Newark Taxi (well SUV type...) from the airport for around 95$ with tolls / tips, it takes around 25- 30 minutes to get to the apartment on first avenue from the airport. The apartment is very near the Ritz Diner (For a heart attack breakfast), the Food emporium supermarket (for supplies) and TK Maxx for my wife's credit card. We picked up the keys from a safety box just inside the apartment corridor after the owner emailed me the code to get in through the front door. This apartment is on the fourth floor..so expect some sweat if your cases are heavy. The apartment is large enough for 4 adults and has a great kitchen. There are two large double beds and a sofa bed.

The Positives for this apartment are - Its in a very safe area, 10 minute walk to the subway, the owner provides contact details for any problems, the apartment is large enough, functional, as pictured and its at the back of the apartment so its quieter.

The Negatives - The bed linen wasn't clean or looked as if it hadn't been changed (which knocks two points off for me), we had people walking on wooden floors above us with insomnia, the heating system is steam controlled so be prepared for noisy heating pipes and steam radiator valve sounds, but this is normal apparently.

Still we really enjoyed the holiday...NEW YORK is FANTASTIC!
