A Convenient Oasis: Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Apr 2024
Our recent stay at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side was a winning combination of comfort and location. Nestled in the Upper East Side, this hotel offered the perfect launching pad for exploring New York City.

A huge advantage was the friendly and professional staff. A special shoutout to Willie Howard at the front desk! He went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. From patiently answering my questions about the neighborhood to recommending hidden gem restaurants, his helpfulness made a big difference.

Speaking of restaurants, the Upper East Side is a foodie paradise. Trendy cafes are within walking distance of the hotel. No matter my craving, we never had to stray far for a delicious meal. Plus, with the metro station just a block away, venturing further afield in NYC was a breeze.

The Courtyard itself offered clean and comfortable rooms, and great amenities. It provided a comfortable and convenient haven to return to after a day of exploring the city. Central Park's sprawling beauty was just a short stroll away, perfect for a morning jog or a relaxing afternoon picnic.

Overall, our stay at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Upper East Side was a delightful experience. If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient base to explore NYC's Upper East Side, this hotel is a perfect choice.

We stayed at the Courtyard for 7 nights and had a good experience. As a Platinum Elite, we requested an upgrade. Yenny at the front desk worked it out for us to have a very nice corner room, #1401, with the best view you can expect in NYC. We've stayed at this hotel several times, and this was the nicest room we have ever had. Housekeeping also did a great job every day. Please remember to give them a tip!

We had a very positive experience during our stay. Very clean and well run. Florentino, one of the maintenance people, was especially helpful to us when we moved to a larger room. He definitely went beyond the call of duty! He is to be commended.

Room tip: Ask about parking as it may be difficult.

Stayed there for a family funeral

It was a disaster

Wanted adjoining rooms, was told can only do it the day of arrival

Got there , they had no clue and it did not happen

Charged us an early fee, never was told this prior

Wifi did not work

It is old , tried and run by an incompetent manager by the name of Ken Ritson

Do not stay there

Room tip: Stay somewhere else \ We even stay high status with Bonvoy But they could care less

MichaelcN7940UY, your feedback is greatly appreciated. We're sincerely regretful to hear about the issues during your stay, especially concerning your room assignment and unanticipated early check in fee. Our aim is to provide each guest with seamless experiences and services which clearly did not happen in this case. Concerning your comments on our wireless service and property condition, these areas will be considered carefully.

Stayed here for two nights in January. It is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. Away from the bustle, but good if you want quiet or are bringing kids. We stayed here because we had an early morning event a few blocks away, and it was fun to explore this neighborhood a bit, away from long lines at restaurants and the "beautiful people" that haunt other parts of Manhattan.

It is half a mile from the subway, but it is a decent station that always seems to have working escalators and elevators. A miracle! It is in an extremely safe neighborhood, so no worries about the walk. There are plenty of small grocery stores, coffee shops, bagel shops, and relatively inexpensive cafes and restaurants around. It is not an area of nightlife, though, so some places may close earlier than you expect.

Staff was fine, and there was always someone available at the desk and in the lobby. They did not provide any information at check-in, and it was not until I came in with a couple of cups of coffee from a nearby shop that I realized there was free coffee and tea in the lobby.

It looks like at one point there was a small bar and/or breakfast area in the lobby, but it is not being used now. Probably another pandemic casualty. There is a small area that sells snacks near the front desk. You can store your luggage for free in a locked room in the lobby. The person at the front desk gives you the code. I really liked this because it was much quicker to drop off and pick your luggage than at a place with a bell hop. People with more valuable stuff than ours might feel uneasy with the access everyone has.

Our room was a standard Marriott room. There was a desk and one comfy chair. The bathroom was good sized for NYC with a lot of counter space. We also had a real bathtub, not just a shower. There was a microwave and mini fridge. It was a fair price for a room of its size in Manhattan.

The room was kept at a cool temperature, which was wonderful. It was very cold outside, and often hotels are way, way too hot on cold winter nights. This room was very comfortable for sleeping.

Comfortable rooms in a great area - close to subway stations and many restaurants, etc, without being in the thick of full-on tourist area.
Lovely, friendly housekeepers who did a wonderful job each day.
Tea/coffee/hot chocolates are always available in lobby area.
