I'm not sure how to update this location to make it less confusing. Its not clear where to go when you first arrive, or what you need or don't need to do. The people we asked for help were not all that interested in doing so. That said, they move a LOT of people through this place and once we did figure out where we needed to be and how to get there, we could quickly get to where we needed to go.

One tip: If you are taking a train out, and you know which track it will be on, do not wait. Instead head to the track as soon as possible since seating on the trains is not assigned and you may be separated from your group, if you are not traveling alone.

This is a gigantic transportation hub in New York City. I could see how you could easily get turned around and lost in it. There are lots of places to shop and eat. We grabbed breakfast one morning at Shake Shack and Moe's and grabbed a couple of things we needed at Kmart. There are lots of homeless people and also lots of police activity.

If you are intimidated by crowds, this is not for you. If you don't mind strangers bumping into you then you won't mind this station. Very congested. So much going on. Right on 32nd street so it is in an excellent location.

Penn Station is truly awful. It’s dirty, crowded, and an embarrassment. New York needs to do better. It feels unsafe and the train situation is a giant mess.

Penn Station is huge and one could get confused and lost especially with all the current construction. If you're arriving or departing from this station, make sure you give yourself enough time to navigate. If you're arriving and plan to depart from here, purchase your ticket after arriving or online.

We arrived just outside of the station from Washington DC via Vamoose bus. Vamoose serves the NYC - Washington,DC metro area and is a excellent, clean, comfortable way to travel.

We departed Penn Station 4 days later to use Amtrak to Albany. Anybody using Amtrak should arrive at least 30 minutes prior. Unfortunately, the departure board does not update in advance, so ask Amtrak which platform your train usually departs from so that you can get situated before a long, long line occurs.
