I've been to NYC several times before and was keen to stay centrally in or near the upcoming Meatpacking district. There were 4 adults plus a tiny baby so an apartment was by far the most sensible option for us.
The location is brilliant, lots of great restaurants nearby, including Justin Timberlake's restaurant a few blocks away. It's easy to walk to Time Square and Central Park but not close enough to be bothered by tourist noise and expensive amenities. There's also a metro stop nearby.
The apartment was quite clean and plenty of linen provided. There's no coffee table as the pictures suggest but that's a good thing as the sitting room isn't that big. The kitchen has everything required and it all functions. The bathroom and shower were fine but the decor is really quite tired in there- could really do with a refit.
The negatives were that the front bedroom is tiny and subject to noise coming in from the road below due to the poorly fitted aircon box but nothing that earplugs didn't fix. The matress in the second bedroom was terrible for more than one person- maybe the owners might like to consider replacing it?
You need to take into consideration that this is a third floor apartment with no elevator, fine for the fit but lugging a stroller up and down everyday was quite a challenge! Saying that, if I was going to NY again with friends (and no baby) I'd stay here again if the matress was replaced!
