My boyfriend suggested this restaurant and wow! It was so entertaining, a constant flow of singing from waiters and waitresses. Our waiter even took our order mid way thr his number. It was the best meal out in New York by far. The big numbers of course were the best.. beauty and the beast.. frozen.. Chicago and sitting on the top floor over looking the downstairs by far the best seats. We were very fortunate to be seated here. The mild wait to get in was worth it. Good value for money and the food was great too. You have to go here if you enjoy musicals.
This place had been recommended to me, i was not disappointed, if you love musicals you are going to love the singing servers. Even waiting in the line to get in we we sung too, brilliant. The rainbow bagel and tater tots were pretty good too.
Well worth a visit when in NYC
First time here with my grandsons. There is a long line waiting to get in, and I just don't get it!! Service is friendly, and the talented singers/actors are wonderful, but the Stardust Diner is not clean at all. It's incredibly filthy. We were taken to the second floor, and I had to look away at what I saw so as not to walk out and disappoint my grandsons, who were excited to come here. There were trays of food (waiting to be served to the reserved parties of twenty or more who visit here) left out at the top of the stairs that were placed on top of trash cans. There is dirt and grime and filth everywhere you look. The tables look as though they are never wiped clean. I would not want to see this place when the lights are turned off. I did not mind that the food was overpriced, because the talent of the waiters and waitresses is incredible. In my opinion, passing around a dirty white bucket for additional donations is a bit much. The food is simply palatable, nothing special ~~ and lots of grease. As others have stated, you don't go here for the food ~~ the talent is the draw. Sorry for the negative review Ellen's Stardust, because the concept is great. Just please clean the place up.
Prepare to wait because there is pretty much always a line down the street to get in. We went on a Sunday about 930am. Of course the place is expensive and the food is okay. Not great, not horrible. But nobody really comes here for the food anyway. The songs are fun, the performers are good, some are truly amazing. Staff is really friendly, although our table seemed to be forgotten about and there were long periods of time between visits from the waiter. I had a coffee and when I got to the bottom of the cup there was an old macaroni in it, so that was weird. I do wish there was more singing and less of the host just talking. They also come around every half hour or so asking each table for extra cash for the staff to fund them pursuing their acting/singing dreams. Overall, it’s worth a visit as a NYC attraction and my daughter definitely loved it, but if I wasn’t traveling with children I’d probably never go back.
