I booked this last minute for a premium room, fortunately received an upgrade to the penthouse. Have to say, this was one of the most ridiculously crazy hotel rooms I've ever seen. Had I known, I would have organized a party. The penthouse had a powder room, dining room, living room, full 2 person master bath and a separate bedroom. Electric shades, Bluetooth speaker, two TVs. Crazy, like a multi-million dollar apartment.

Location is great - right on the edge of Soho, walk out your door and everything is there.

I'm giving the review 5 stars just because the room was so insane, but it was also a little worn and in need of maintenance (1601). Nitpicks for this price range:
* The gigantic soaker bathtub does not seal correctly, so water drains after a few minutes.
* The AC is super noisy, to the point that I just turned it off.
* The automated blinds are a cool touch but they are actually a multi-step process that takes like 5 minutes to open and close. Controls for lights in bedroom are too far away to do from bed - kind of a buzz kill to get up to open/close.
* There's some wifi audio system in the room but instructions are super complicated so I just gave up. In the age of sonos, almost a joke.

Maybe there's an easier way to manage all these systems but it wasn't obvious to me at all and I'm pretty technical.

The rooftop bar, Jimmy's, is pretty cool - amazing view, has a pool, etc. Def a good hangout. Bar staff is awesome and super friendly, made great drinks. For a real new yorker, it's not really a place you would go - full of tourists on their phones etc, not a "scene" but the space is amazing. They supposedly charge a cover to get up there but can't see how they would justify it. Still had a few drinks. The restaurant downstairs also looks really nice but wound up eating outside the hotel.

Room service was decent. I ordered an omlette and they wound up bringing two and charging for both. Cost was covered by the room so I don't really care, but kind of weird (I still ate both).
