I guess it’s just New York prices but on top of the room rate, the $50 a day extra charge to use a pool that always seem to be busy or unattended seemed steep. Average gym facilities and a breakfast menu that doesn’t seem to know what fruit and vegetables are.
The room was good though, it was a good location and service was decent. Not for anyone on a budget!

The unfriendly staff towards BIPOC guests is unmatched. It’s sad because the staff who were rude were BIPOC themselves. Think not opening doors, or greeting as you check in or walk out. Not even telling you where the elevator is! Please tell your check in host to work on his customer service.
The elevator is not air conditioned and in the summer, this is highly uncomfortable given the supposed luxury vibe the hotel is supposed to have. The room was nice enough though and the lobby was very beautiful. Jack’s lounge also had a great matcha. The Le Labo toiletries were a lovely touch.

Everything was good. I really don't have any complaints!! From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, everything met my expectations. The pool/rooftop is really nice as well. I highly recommend staying here! :).

Overall interesting experience. Was quiet so could sleep well. Two growth areas are 1) I had asked the concierges for slippers twice and never got them. 2) Not a lot of space for belongings and clothes. Now for a highlight: An outstanding employee is Ali at the rooftop pool—excellent! Very welcoming and hospitable.

I regularly hosted a morning sound meditation at the roof of Modernhaus this month. I love this place because the Jimmy Rooftop bar has been one of my favorite gems in NYC and I was excited for the opportunity to use the pool deck for my events. The hotel is lovely, but one of the highlights was meeting Ali Noble - a lifeguard at the rooftop pool. She was not only helpful to me, but so courteous and attentive to the guests I found it inspiring. She made the experiences I had on that deck exponentially better and I can confidently say she made the roof feel like an oasis for guests too. The hotel itself has so many beautiful features including Jumpin’Jacks which i highly recommend for breakfast. The front desk and bell staff were also really fantastic. This is a great boutique hotel tucked away in a very fun and lively neighborhood and a perfect option for either business or pleasure.
