It was a wonderful treat to stay in Reno's apartment with Reno and Karen and darling Edith Ann. The location is perfect, with fun restaurants nearby, lots of sights within easy walking distance, and a subway station around the corner that'll take you to pretty much anywhere in this amazing city. Reno is a wonderful host, full of knowledge and humour, and with a great love for her city that she shares with true New York generosity. The apartment is huge, airy and quirky, and Reno keeps it meticulously clean. She even did our laundry for us, several times! We can't recommend Reno's place too highly, and we will certainly be back.
I stayed with Reno when I was just moving here for a new job and I was searching for an apartment. Her apartment is massive and so unique, lovely, clean, and in the heart of TriBeCa. The location couldn’t have been more perfect. But really it’s the host that made my stay exceptional. She is exceptionally kind, and so hiliarous. I still stay in touch with Reno and I consider her one of my life long friends! One of those people who touch your soul right away. A true witty, down to earth, full of life New Yorker!
There are many reasons to book this space. First among these is the location--you can walk to almost anywhere in lower Manhattan, and super easy access to several of the most convenient subway lines.
The rental space is on the street side and has the only two large windows in the loft. There is a large kitchen area and a bathroom with two small windows at the other end of the loft. Reno has a private bedroom off to the side, but the rest of the loft is open space (total maybe around 1000 square feet/120 kvm2). There is a door between the rental space and the rest of the loft, but not a full wall (the wall between rental space and loft goes up about 3/4 of the way to the ceiling). When we were there, the heat and humidity in the city made it necessary to leave all windows and doors open to increase air flow whenever the A/C was not on. For my daughter and I, this was not a big issue, but it might be for some who want more privacy.
I would call this a semi-private space. The door to the space cannot be locked, and . It also has the elevator entrance in it (though it is rarely used). Renters can use the elevator going down, but not up, since it requires a special key. The building is very secure.
Reno is a generous host in sharing her large loft. She keeps a beautiful small garden just outside the windows (and does need access through the space to water the plants). The window seat in the rental space is a wonderful spot to sit and look out onto the street below.
The street is relatively quiet and the beds were wonderful, which led to restful nights--just what we needed after long and busy days. We did not have much interaction with Reno since our schedules were very different--we were up early, out most of the day and turned in early at night.
This space is wonderful for some, and may not be for others. If you need total privacy, or to be able to lock your door while you are out or asleep, this space is not for you. If you want an amazing location, spaciousness and a true Tribeca loft living experience, this is a great value.
