My wife and I stayed at this hotel for four nights in early June. It’s a lovely hotel/guest house only one block from Times Square. Having flown into JFK we took the air train to Howard beech and then the underground to a block away from the hotel. It’s only $7.75 each.
We had a small room with the ensuite situated to the rear of the hotel. We were made aware at the time of booking about the potential noise from the bar to our room. We stayed Thursday to Monday and the only night the music was noticeable was on the Friday night, but it did not stop me sleeping.
The room was very clean with coffee machine, fridge, stove and lovely bathroom.
The continental breakfast was plentiful and the late lunch we had in the bar was very nice and well priced.
Empire states, The Rockefeller Centre, Central Park and many other places are within a 1 mile walk.
You will need a taxi or tube to get to 9/11 memorial, Statue of Liberty etc.
If you like to stay at a place with some character, with a family feel and are not bothered about a chained hotel, and do not want to pay hundreds of more dollars to be close to the centre of New York, then this is a great place to stay.
I would definitely recommend The French Quarter.
