I think this place is fabulous. The food, the atmosphere....a little on the pricy side but when you factor in everything is meant for sharing, the $27.95 Caesar Salad might be a great buy. As you can see, it is HUGE. Wait staff is fabulous and friendly. My waiter was Christopher and he was amazing and attentive. I came at lunch time so I was able to get half servings off the lunch menu. The Marinara sauce is fresh and light. The bread assortment is fabulous. And the Gluten free pasta was nice. A New York tradition to be experienced and treasured.

When our friends come in from Florida it’s a must that we eat in Carmine’s. It’s their favorite restaurant to go to before the theater.
As always, the food was really good. We had their specialty salad to share and baked clams for appetizers. For our main course we had their unbelievable eggplant Parmesan and chicken cacciatore. They were as good as always.
Needless to say, dinner was great. We love the vibe at Carmine’s. It’s always crowded and noisy, just the way it should be in a great family style Italian restaurant in the theater district in the city.

We went there because it was recommended to is as service g good Italian food. However it was overcrowded( which in some cases van be a good sign). The pinot Grigori tasted we acid, the Malbec was a bit better , but we asked for normal wine glasses instead of the lemonade high narrow ones. The good was absolutely not what we expected from Italian food. Tasteless, like foto imitations of the real thing, short cuts everywhere, and portions so big it was disgusting. The bread was ice cold, in no dish or anywhere have we discovered olive oil or the taste of fresh herbs. I van only recommended this restaurant for schooltrip groups or drunken company groups.

A restaurant I have actually heard of! It was good but not great. Everything is served family style and with a group of 7 we were able to get four dishes: Mixed salad, seafood pasta, Bolognese spaghetti and chicken parmesan. All were good, none outstanding. Servings are a good size and relatively reasonable. Wine a decent price but if you do not have reservations you will not get in! Service questionable but worth seeing and eating here.

We had dined at Carmine's in the past, and were staying in midtown, so booked a reservation a month ahead. Reservation was for630, but here that means "sometime that night". We waited an hour and a half, but in their defense it was pre-show time on a Friday, so crowds can be expected. Here's a tip, mention to them that you have a show to catch (typically at 8pm) and they will prioritize you. I overheard someone tell this to the staff then joke later that it wasn't true, but it worked!

This is a casual place that caters to families. Service is attentive and food comes out quicker than expected. The portions are family sized as advertised and my son even ordered a second bowl of pasta, butter & cheese. And his first bowl wasn't small by any means. Thumbs up from him!

I do recommend the chicken al la Romana, which is a lemon, caper, butter sauce dish with chicken (duh), spinach and roasted potatoes. It's better than it sounds.

Wine prices are expensive by the glass, but no so by the bottle.

If your patient, this is worth the wait for semi-old-school NY Italian. Recommendation granted, thanks for reading!
