Firstly, the good things:
Katie was efficient and very easy to deal with. The information was provided re check in etc was easy to follow including the provision of contact numbers which we did need to use upon arrival.
Ben greeted us and was very helpful and positive, We did have to wait about 15 minutes outside in the cold after our scheduled time before he arrived, but that probably had something more to do with me accidentally having my phone on silent.
The location was perfect for us as we wanted to stay lower Upper West near the park and near the subway. The express subway is just a few minutes walk and Central Park is a block away. The Lincoln Centre, fabulous restaurants etc are all nearby.
The street itself is quiet and feels safe.
The not so good:
The building is very old and the studio is on the 3rd floor walk up which was ok for us but may not be so good for less mobile guests.
The studio size was comfortable for 2 people, I cannot imagine having any more in there. It is just one room with a TINY bathroom. Cooking facilities are very basic and small. There is no bench space for food preparation. But there is a working hot plate.
The heating is centrally controlled by the building. The pipes make a real racket and woke us every morning around 5am!
The bathroom is the real disappointment, even for us and we are not overly fussy people. The shower (over the bath tub) did not drain so you would be standing calf-deep in water every time you showered, and would have to stand in the water of the person before you. There was mould in the tiles. The handle fell off the door. The sink is tiny with no room at all to put any items. The shower curtain needs replacing. There is paint peeling off the ceilings.
the good news: apartment is in a great ,quiet location near Lincoln Center, subway and restaurants. The ac and shower worked well. This area is residential, not touristy which suited us since we know the city very well. Katie and Ben were responsive and easy to deal with (haven't yet gotten deposit back but I assume this will happen)
For the area, the price was very reasonable.
the not so good -- the apartment is a studio, not one bedroom, which was fine for us since we were 2 people. It would be a squeeze if you were a group. It was minimally equipped so bring your own soap, shampoo, etc. and don't plan to do any cooking beyond making tea. More importantly, it was not very clean and everything seemed a bit "tired"rather than "elegant"--bathroom rug, curtains, shower walls, etc. need a wash. We might stay again since it was so close to family members but not sure I'd recommend it to friends.
Had a great stay at this flat for a trip to New York city for work. Ben was a great host/receptionist and the apartment size was very decent, clean and lovely to stay in. Central location makes it really convenient to attend meetings as well as sighsee. A real home away from home! I look forward to staying there again for future trips.
This is our third time staying at vacation apartment in Manhattan and this is the best experience we have so far!
We stayed for six nights this month. The apartment looks just like the photos on the website. Katie, our contact was easy to deal with and very responsive to our comments throughout the booking as well as our stay.
The apartment is perfectly located on Manhattan, close to all the attractions we wanna visit. The flat is bright and airy, clean and well equiped. We found it perfect for me and my family.
The location is excellent for dining, sightseeing, shopping, west end shows and public transport. I'll definitely come back again!!
