Very good

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Feb 2024
Everything was very clean, very soft bed and receptionist with a flute voice that is not annoying. The toilette flushed perfectly and there was no sewage smell. Really amazing and beautiful. View particolary evocative and amazing. Everything ok

Can I move in? This is the most iconic New York City hotel, hands off. The best and coolest location in New York City (in the heart of SoHo) across the road from Prada and Valentino (what’s not to love?!) delicious food at the restaurant and trendy, sceney vibe that screams New York ! And then the staff are so kind but discrete, attentive, professional. The vibe is cool and undestated. The rooms are spacious full of little luxury touches and details. We love the beautiful french doors flooding the place with light, the luxury bed linen. The mini bar (complimentary!!) and the bath products were smelling divine. A massive soaking bath-tub for two, and a shower with amazing pressure and jets. And most importantly, if you are not new to New York you know how big a deal this is, there is absolutely no noise pollution inside the room! No ambulances or fire trucks or any of that! How do they do it ?! Stephanie the director, really knows what exceptional hospitality means and makes the guests feel special…All in all, amazing boutique hotel. I can’t wait to go back!

Now THIS really is a 5* hotel - very much so in every way - from the minute you approach the front door , to be greeted and shown to reception, to being checked in and have all your questions answered , to getting to your spacious, clean room, with Fruit, nuts, wine, flowers and a personal greeting card .
THIS is what I hope for from a 5* hotel in NYC !
Well done the Mercer and all the staff - will stay here every time we come to NYC
I cannot fault anything at all - the soft drinks and all the snacks ( of which there are many ) are all COMPLIMENTARY too
Food is great , staff are great , rooms are great , prices are great - don’t look elsewhere - book here - I doubt you will regret your decision

Room tip: Book it !

A six-storey, red brick, Romanesque New York landmark, houses the Mercer Hotel, a cool but trendy downtown luxury property in SOHO, a district rooted in cast iron engineering, with excellent shopping and some of the best restaurants in town. I relished my Loft Suite with a penthouse vibe and packed with a bevy of features: high ceilings with exposed brick, open concept footprint, hardwood floors and huge arched windows affording lots of natural light. A muted color palette with modern furniture, mirrors as big as walls and living, dining and workspaces added touches of hominess to the dwelling. The bath was marbleized and outfitted with a 2 person tub and a walk-in shower. Sartianos restaurant serves modern Italian food-fare with items that range from Yellowfin Tuna Tartare to Heirloom Beets to Bomboloni. I scooped up the flavorful Octopus selection accompanied by some 'melt in your mouth' homemade Focaccia.

As a confirmed bookworm I loved the handsome library space in the lobby. Floor to ceiling mahogany bookshelves, curated weekly, are tended to much like a garden. It's was such an pleasure for me to sip a Manhattan and flip through the libraries picks. Titles range from all over the place but it is my habit to look for titles out of the ordinary. There's a book for every interest..........so forget your computer...............and pack your reading glasses.

If you yearn for a luxury Soho based hotel that is center stage to the parade of local shops............then try the ............Mercer Hotel................a stellar location & great library.

Location - SOHO - and lo - key vibe are all happening here. Ideal for walking through SOHO and surrounding districts. Beware - we arrived after a long flight on a Sunday evening at 10.00pm hungry and thirsty, the hotel's iconic and super trendy restaurant in the basement - The Mercer Kitchen -closed in December and the new resident, Sartiano’s ( a fine looking place ) were unable to serve us as they were closing ( despite the front desk assuring us that we would be able to eat ) which seemed a tad early for New York - right ? The hotel did offer us room service but we wanted something a little more lively after 5 hours on a crowded plane. We walked the quiet streets and found something eventually.
Two other peeves were the noise factor in the rooms - early next morning we could quite clearly hear the business call made by a booming male voice in ( presumably ) the next room and also the lack of a coffee/tea maker in the room. Usually at this level of hotel there is a Keurig/ Nespresso or similar machine. On the plus side the water and soft drinks were available in the fridge at no charge ( at least that's what it said, although I haven't checked the bill microscopically.
The front of house staff and the bell desk were all pleasant and amenable. The location is a plus, the in room stereo system ( bluetooth enabled ) sounded great and the blackout shades performed admirable.
Not sure if the nightly rate is accurate for these issues though...

A hotel charging 1000 usd a night can’t deliver to your room a coffee at 7 am. Unacceptable. We have been staying here for years. Quite shocking. Probably the last time. Catering is definitely a weak spot.
I am so disappointed. I have come to the mercer for over ten years. This has never happened to us.
