Owner description: Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

I got overwhelmed when I first entered the Grand Central Terminal. I cannot describe the feeling, but I could stay there an entire day and watch people comming and going.

The ornateness of the place is surprising and the busyness is a bit overwhelming. I was excited to see and stand on the steps where the untouchables was filmed. My favorite scene of the movie happened in GST. Outside of the history of the place, there isn't much to see or do. This is still an active and very busy commuter hub that has hundreds of trains and thousands of people.

Grand Central sits majestically in midtown Manhattan. I have been going there for years and have seen it changed along the way. I love popping in whenever I find myself in this part of town. The Grand Central Market is filled with edibles that tempt despite the fairly high prices. Bien Cuit is my go-to favorite all thanks to Chef Zachary Golper’s exquisite Viennoiserie, addictive chocolate chip cookies and breads. The food court in the lower ground floor has a Shake Shack where the wait time is considerably less than at other locations. Pizzas, tacos, Magnolia cupcakes, soups and salads are some of the foods one can nosh on here with ample seating that may be difficult over the weekends. There are stores on the main level including an Apple store. The Great Northern Food Hall occupies one part of the area where the Christmas shops once sat. Now they are half the size but still exciting come December. There is so much to see, eat (Neuhaus Chocolate) and do here that I always bring guests to see this wonder.

Keeping Grand Central secure is of paramount importance. Therefore one does see military police fully armed milling about but this doesn’t take away any of the joy of being here.

A must for visitors and locals!

The structure of this train station is just magnificent. It is very near to the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building and Bryant Park. It is connected by almost all the subway lines and it especially has a shuttle that goes back and forth to Times Square
