Having just spent a relaxing stay at the wonderful Marbella Beach Club in Spain, a traditional Marriott Vacation Club with open space and blue skies, I was initially skeptical about this hotel smack in the middle of downtown San Diego. Within minutes walking through the Gaslamp Quarter and the surrounding areas after dinner I realized we’re lucky to be in the midst of a thriving, safe and lively city center. The new Pulse is at once contemporary, cheerful, clean, and comfortable. In our 2-night stay, we always ran into happy people gathering around the 12th fl lobby area. Comfy bed, lots of storage space, plenty electrical outlets, well equipped long stay cooking needs, powerful shower, many mirrors, etc. Would be ideal if the bathroom washbasin and the toilet/shower areas are partitioned to allow for more privacy and concurrent dual usage. There is daily maid cleaning, with bottled water replenished! The curbside valet service @ $42/day was steep, but Anthony, the bell valet was helpful and friendly. And we knew our car was safe. The Shake Bar & Lounge in the lobby is open, casual, bright, and full of positive vibes. As a timeshare owner I like the new concept, and enjoyed staying here. We can’t wait to check out the Pulse in NYC in May!

Thank you for staying at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse! It certainly is a different feel from the normal villa-style resorts and provides a unique, urban experience. We are glad you enjoyed your time and to hope to invite you back soon!

Just a heads up, if you are not a Marriott Vacation Club member, you will be asked upon check-in if you’d like to sit through a sales pitch. We declined.

Another quick thing: we must have been next door to a party or pre-prom thing because we could hear every single word that they were saying through the adjoining door between our rooms.

Other than that, the accommodations were great! The decor was new and clean. The location was right on the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter. There was a workout room but the pool was closed. And we had a great time during our stay!

Final note, to park in the structure under the hotel the cost is $35 per night. Grab the parking ticket on your way in and show it to the front desk and they’ll swap it for an in and out key card.

Hi Allison, thank you for your review! While we are glad you enjoyed your visit, we are sorry to hear the neighboring room was a bit noisy. It is good to hear you enjoyed the rest of your time and the great location downtown. We do hope to see you again for another visit at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse!

We recently stayed at the Pulse when we were visiting my daughter who lives in San Diego. The facility is gorgeous, very modern and great location. The rooms were efficiently laid and spacious with beautiful bathrooms and kitchenette. Oh, and the staff were super happy, friendly and helpful. All 4 members in my party would stay at Pulse again with no hesitation.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Pulse in San Diego! We were traveling with baby twins so the suites were perfect. Unfortunately we got into an auto accident while we were driving around the city. Thankfully everyone was okay. When we dropped our damaged car with the Valet, Micah, Ryan, Blake, Yes and Matthew with ACE parking were amazing! They took care of our vehicle and went above and beyond to even smooth out some of the damage! Whoa! Who does that? Only the friendly attentive staff at the Marriott Pulse! We hope to be back real soon!!

Room Tip: Rooms have been completely made over and modernized! You won't be disappointed!

This vacation club resort is a hidden gem. Located in the outskirts of the Gas lamp district it’s close to restaurants and Seaport Village. Great restaurant on site as well. The biggest complaint I have is the cost for parking. Be prepared for $35+ for daily parking.
