We were stuck without a place for 2 weeks with cats, this place although under construction allowed us, price was good, and had a kitchenette which helped to somewhat feel like home, the service was so good and kind. i had stayed here once before 17 years ago when i was prego and lived away from home and loved it then too... highly recommend.

We are very happy that we were able to accommodate you and your cats. I know it can be difficult, especially in this area, to find a respectable place that will welcome your pets as well. The renovation will conclude in about a month or so. I hope you will come back and stay with us again soon.

Diamond head is a great location along Boardwalk by Crystal Piere. Reasonable price, friendly people, small cottage or village like feel yet great access to San Diego, Balboa Park, Coronado Island or take a short drive to La Jolla just to the North. Crystal Piere and the Boradwalk to Mission Bay is a great "Good Morning Walk". Surf, boat, rent bikes, or browse the shops. I've been there over the years and never dissapointed. .Most the rooms offer kitchens

Room Tip: Do your best to get an upstairs room on the second floor, quieter.

This little hotel has alot to offer. The best part is that you are literally on the boardwalk. We walked every where. If you are looking for a luxury hotel. This isnt it, but the rates are very good. The Location is awesome. The rooms were not bad. In my experience most of the hotels in California do not have good ventilation or air conditioning. We just opened the windows. The suites are also roomy.

Thank you for your review. We are in the process of renovating the entire property. When we are finished, we will have air conditioning as well. This should make a significant difference.

We booked this hotel because of the location and how close it was to the beach and after reading the reviews and seeing the manager say it was updated we thought we'd give this place a shot.... besides the location this was the worse choice we could have made. The paint in the tub is pilling and there are stains all in the carpet. The lampshades by the bed are broke. After the first night we woke up with flying ants on the top of the mini fridge handle, and a couple were on the bed. The front desk literally told us what do you want me to do about it. Again besides being in a great location to restaurants and the beach, I don't think we will ever stay here again. Would rather pay more money for the hotel literally right across the street.

I am very sorry for the misunderstanding about the upcoming renovation. We are scheduled to start this finally next Monday. I hope after we complete this, that you will give us another try at the return guest rate.

Great location right on the boardwalk and beach. We've been staying here for 4-5 years in the 2nd floor room with the patio overlooking the beach. Love the view and ocean breezes. The rooms have a small fridge, 2-burner stove top, microwave, dishes, and decent sized kitchen area with table. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The cleaning staff was friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable for the fantastic location right on the beach. We love that the place is a short walk to numerous restaurants, a grocery store, and lots of clubs/bars.
On the downside, the place needs work. The cabinet under the kitchen sink was falling off the hinges. Stucco on the outdoor patio wall has been missing a big corner chunk for years. The wooden blinds are minimally functional, so we don't even try to adjust them - just live with it. Water damage on the window sills hasn't been fixed or painted for years. Unlike other reviews, our bathroom was in fine condition.
Parking spaces are very limited, so we had to park at the sister property a few blocks away one night.

We are finally addressing all of the issues that were mentioned. As for the balconies, we keep painting the steel. We had the company that installed the glass that replaced the metal, remove as much of the steel as possible and were left with what you see now. I am hoping we will be doing some external work as well while we renew the entire interior.
