The trip was great, very interesting and relaxing. The tour leaders and all crew were fantastic. Food was great!

Our tour of the Canadian Maritimes, where we travelled primarily by bus with 37 passengers, was generally good, except the long days spent travelling between the provinces (over 1700 miles traveled). We learned a lot about this part of Canada where we had never been before. The terrain was beautiful, and the activities were usually interesting and engrossing. Our tour guide, Chris McPhee, gave us good lectures along the way, having a great knowledge of Canada--both past and present. However, he didn't attempt to build comradeship among the travelers and seemed to put his own agenda/interests ahead of the passengers. He seemed pretty inflexible with scheduling and not very helpful of passengers who needed a little assistance or extra time to walk to places. Our hotels were comfortable. Breakfasts were provided, and except for the hotel in Halifax, the food was reasonably good--better in the restaurants with breakfast buffets. It was a disappointment to have only 9 lunches and only 4 dinners provided on a 17-day trip, and those usually without gratis beer or wine, nor dessert.

Ireland was so green and beautiful scenery, with lots of sheep’s and cattle. The people spoke English and very friendly as we traveled from Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Killarney and Galway. We saw several castles, which Abbey and Blarney was in such a beautiful areas. Enjoyed the fish and chips and beef stew. We got lucky and had beautiful weather sunshine most of the 14 day trip in the 70’s and the two days of rain we got stopped long enough to enjoy our tour at the Cliffs and Galway. I would go back and spend more time at Kilkenny and Killarney. The host lunch we had in Cobh (Cove) was great. She made stew and salad with apple dessert was wonderful and enjoyed her inside on Ireland.

Grand Circle Cruise, down the Danube, in Eastern Europe, with 169 passengers. As a person who is gluten free for medical reasons, I was very disappointed in the chefs cavalier attitude toward it. He definitely knew what had gluten. He did not take responsibility for seeing that every passenger room menu indicated if foods contained gluten or other allergens. Only the menus displayed in the lobby indicated what allergens were in each meal..
1. I recommend that staff see that all room menus include the allergy information that is on the lobby menu. This could also be available on-line.
2. I recommend that the staff also offer, allergen information, that ascribes numbers for all allergens that are on the menus), to all passengers. It currently exists, but passengers are not told about it.
3. In contrast, I traveled on the Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) ship, the Clio, with 89 passengers, in May 2022 & February 2023. It had the same chef and assistant chef on both trips. They were very accommodating, friendly and proactive in initiating suggestions for offering me gluten free options for pancakes, French toast, pasta, bread, desserts etc

I learned and did so many new things. Montreal has an underground shopping mall that is 20 miles long, Montreal and Quebec have restored old ( circa 1600/1700) parts of their Cities. I learned about the wars between England and France, lobster fishing, growing potatoes, hook rug making, reversing tidal flows, record making tides of 49 feet, origins of the cajuns in the USA, etc. Visited the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, Anne of green Gables farm, FDR's home on Campabello, a restored fort built and destroyed in 1700s populated with costumed actors, public gardens, beautiful cathedrals, a hotel where FDR and Churchill planned the liberation of Europe, national parks, and a 7 mile long bridge.
