Lots of pluses for dining here. The interior redesign is amazing. Very warm and welcoming. Big bar, comfy seating (a little too close together, but whattyagonnado?) and a small menu which always makes me happy - because what they do...they do right. Front door greeting was great, waiter was great...maybe a little anxious to keep things moving at his speed, but it all worked out. Margaritas are amazing, appetizers all looked good (I had the chalupas). The short rib double stack taco and the blackened mahi mahi taco were fantastic (a little less sauce would have made them sublime). Dessert was just okay. Burro churros. Coffee was delicious. I'm definitely going back. Big plus - they take reservations AND they have valet parking!

The staff was friendly and accommodated our large group without a reservation. Outdoor patio was an unexpected surprise. Food and drink was overpriced and nothing special. My fish tacos had a great texture but were flavorless. Very tasty corn appetizer was delicious but was $11 and small.

Delicious food. Definitely not the usual Mexican fare. Friendly and helpful wait staff and a great vibe.

In the ever changing scene of great new restaurants in Boston's South End, The Burro Bar stands out as an upscale twist on traditional Mexican fare with a hip casual ambience, great food, an active bar, and an attentive and friendly staff. We were a group of six on Memorial Day weekend, and tried a wide range of appetizers and entrees. Nothing disappointed - but the standouts included the tuna ceviche, pork carnitas enchilada, both styles of fish tacos, and the guacamole appetizer. Not surprisingly, the full bar majored in tequila and Mexican beers - the spicy margarita and cucumber margarita hit the mark for a crowd that normally leans to martinis and manhattans. Atypical for a relatively new venue, the service was efficient and the staff well trained. In short, a great choice for a casual, fun evening with great food and drinks and a bill that won't kill you.

This is a wonderful addition to the South End. We loved this place. In the old Lamota/Union Café space, it has been updated with cool hip Mexican inspired pictures and opened up. It also has a nice patio for when the weather gets nice. The servers were very pleasant and helpful. The tequila selection was enormous. We enjoyed the mango margarita! The food was terrific. We enjoyed the guac and salsa with homemade chips. The street corn was off the cob with unique spice. Our main was the roasted chipotle chicken enchiladas with beans as a side. All had great flavor and were well presented. This is upscale but not expensive Mexican fare. We look forward to many more visits in the future.
