Owner description: This 220-foot granite tower commemorates the Patriots' undaunted bravery in defeat at the 1775 Battle of Bunker Hill.

I had no idea about the history of the Bumker Hill monument or how it inspired the Washington monument. If you are in the Boston area this is worth a visit. The tour is free. I recommend 2-4 hours for the visit.

It is okay. It was too hot to allow people to walk to the top so the monument was closed. There are some maps and a few educational pieces on the walls of the park house. Park rangers will answer questions and are friendly.

We only visited the grounds as none of us wanted to climb the steps to the top of the monument. Quite impressive.

It's a historic monument located in Boston. I recommend using the bus to get here, there isn't a lot of parking. The hill has the monument, but there is a museum across the street.

Freedom Trail start/ends at the Bunker Hill Memorial. The Bunker Hill Monument looks very much like the Washington Monument, only smaller.

It's a little work-out getting up there, as there is no elevator to the top, though climbing the 275+ steps to the top is well worth it when you see the view! I took some memorable photos at the top.

Don't do this if you can't climb a bunch or stairs, but if you can the view is great and so is the history.
