“Memories in the making”

Our family loved staying here for a long weekend to attend a wedding in Asheville. It allowed us to be away from the hustle/bustle of the city while still being close enough to shop and enjoy the perks of the city.

Our family consisted of some older folk who don't navigate stairs well and a young couple with young children. The cabin allowed us the best situation for all that came. The downstairs King room was very comfortable and allowed us easy access to the porches and vehicles. The large master upstairs was PERFECT for our daughter and family who had their 1yr old and 3yr old with them. They were able to put a pack-n-play and a futon in the room for the kids and still had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the space.

The hill beside/behind the house became a family favorite. We had taken some ride-on toys for the 3yr old and these went down the hill with the greatest of speeds. It made for quite a silly memory watching the young adults careen down the hill on that toy motorcycle!

The friendly neighboring dog, Bandit, was also a hit with the family. He's a HUGE white dog that was truly a gently giant. He would take up residence on the back porch at night and made us feel truly protected.

We loved our stay and hope to make it back again in the years to come to make more wonderful memories.

We are so glad that you were able to get out of the flooding in South Carolina and make it to Asheville for the wedding! I am sure there has been lots of stress in your lives in the past weeks, but it sounds like the family had a great time at the cabin! Bandit is our neighbors dog. He stops by to check on things, he is friendly to everyone and their dogs. We love to hear about stories like yours! Please come back to stay with us!

“Lovely cozy cabin in the woods!”

Our family truly enjoyed what we called the "cabin in the woods". The yard was nice and big for the dogs to run and play in. The house was very comfortable and quite charming. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and the large table was perfect for our group of six for both eating and game playing. The reclining couches were really wonderful, with the motorized leg lifts, we were spoiled. Sitting out on the porch once the sunshine came out was a big favorite for us all, it was really relaxing. The only downsides were the coffee maker really should be replaced, I had to clean it several times before use as it was a bit worn out, and Perhaps a new frying pan that doesn't stick so easily. Beware, the oven door gets very hot, we had a few burned fingers. We were pleasantly surprised by the "great white bear" that came to greet us. We met the neighbor's dog Bandit, what a beautiful giant gentle dog. He had breakfast with us daily, reminding us with a big paw to keep petting him. He was a such a happy treat to have around. Our dogs did not mind him at all. We enjoyed many of the local breweries in Asheville and the beautiful drive around the mountains and golf at the Omni Resort. We will certainly recommend your home to others, as well as keep it in mind for our future use as well. We really enjoyed the very cozy cabin in the woods!

“Could not have been better”
Reviewed 30 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

My 4 daughters and I needed a place to meet my stem cell donor for the first time. This cabin could not have better. The cabin is just like it is on web site all you need is the food and drink you want. I am a early riser ,and was able to move around make coffee and so on with out waking the girls cabin is very well made. Coffee on porch is just outstanding first time in 60 years that I heard a roster chicken crow brought back my childhood . The only thing a wish Linda would get is new clock , hers move way to fast, time went by way fast. If I just back to Asheville it will the place I stay.

“Perfect Mountain Getaway”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in June 2015

It's simple - Tranquil Glen is perfect! We rented the house for a small group get-together (7 people) during a June weekend and we could not have been happier with our stay. Dave and Linda are amazing hosts who are great with communication and really make you feel like you are "at home" during your stay. The house itself is in fantastic condition; the attention to detail is amazing. The location is perfect - far enough away from everything to feel like you are away from the world, but close enough to take advantage of all that Asheville has to offer. The house has everything you could possibly need and could comfortably sleep 5 couples, if not more. It would also be perfect for families with children. Any return trips we make to Asheville will undoubtedly include staying at Tranquil Glen.

“Very nice stay - but it's far from everything”
Reviewed 4 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Overall we had a very nice stay. The house is very comfortable (loved the downstairs king bed!). We loved the fact that the there was a basement. Two families, 4 kids...they all got up before the adults and played down there. Ping pong table!!! And a table to seat 8 was awesome.

Just some thoughts though:

The house desperately needs a garbage disposal. We cooked quite a bit and having to grab food in the sink to the throw into the garbage can was pretty gross.

It's far. We planned an Asheviile trip. This is 25 minutes north, w not much around. Everything we did, whether visiting the city or outside, was primarily south of the city. So for 2 weeks we had to make the trek back and forth to the cabin. This is our fault for not really realizing this, just letting others know.

It's a pretty rough road up to the house. It's all loose gravel. The first part is ok, but then the 2nd part you are on loose gravel and then going uphill (prepare to race up it). I'm sure this is for the ice/snow in the winter, but just something for everyone to be aware of.

There isn't much flat grass for the kids to play (mostly on a hill)

We did enjoy our stay no doubt, but might choose something a bit closer to the city next time.

We are glad both families enjoyed the cabin, and great to hear the kids had fun in the basement! We are on a septic tank and unfortunately cannot have a garbage disposal. We advertise the cabin is 20 minutes from Asheville on Flipkey. Sorry that you did not realize that. We love the location, close enough to town, yet has the out in the woods feel. The driveway is gravel, we have not had problems going up it, but will go out to the cabin and ensure the driveway is in good condition.

Thanks for choosing Tranquil Glen, we hope that you will stay with us again!
