Neat. Clean. Continent

Review of Himawari Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Sept 2018via mobile
I stayed in Saipan for 2 weeks during the Easter holidays and I stayed in Himawari. It’s a twin bed room. The room was neat and tidy. They have a Bathtub in the bathroom but the water tap was a bit rusted. It’s ok to me as it still worked well. A terrace is included in the room. Not much view but it’s good for me to hang my dive gears. Everything is good in the room but the tap water is a bit salted. I guess this is normal in Saipan? I like the mini supermarket at the 1/F. U can buy almost everything u need there and the price is the same from the other stores on the streets. And the lunch box is very yummy. Many locals come here for breakfast everyday. Himawari is definitely a good choice for stay. Not luxury. But still simple, clean and tidy.

This was probably the worse hotel i ever stayed during my travels in AND it is expensive. . . it takes a lot for me to get to this point of disgust.. i was taken to my room and it was everything people complained about on another site. i had to remind myself that i just wanted a place to sleep and nothing more. the faucets were crusted with things on them. the head of the shower head was just as bad and caked up with stuff. areas in the room were dusty. i wiped my hand on top of the chair and it there was a streak left behind. the room smelled of mildew and the door just had a push button to lock on the knob. considering the condition of the room AND the lock i didn't deem safe enough. i was changed to another room after i told them of the problem. This other room was on the 2nd floor and had the same issue. after the 3rd time, the room was semi - okay. the issue with the 2nd room was the chain for the door to lock it was broken, so there was no way to lock the door- in addition to it still being poor quality. i stayed for about 8 days. they have a sign at the receptionist that says free ride to the airport, but that is only for people that book through them- not through any other website, so keep that in mind. sometime during. i heard one mane telling the receptionist that this was the best hotel he ever stayed at and i was very very very confused by his statement considering i saw 3 rooms, on different floors and they were all horrible.
considering i had a "better room" i showered by laying a plastic bag in the shower to step on because the tup was horrible and dirty. the shower head was still crusted but not as bad as the other two rooms. the faucet was really crusted up tho. so to brush my teeth, i brought a gallon jug of water down stairs and used that to brush my teeth during my stay.

also, keep in mind that the receptionist barely had english maps on their wall of maps of the island for guest.
there was construction going on at early hours, but it didn't bother me.

good points:
wifi was great
the grocery store /reception area was super cool for snacks, hot meals (they had soup there) and water.
they didn't fuss when i wanted to be moved around.

and in case you think i'm lying about anything i've written, i posted pictures. I can not make this stuff up. This hotel is straight disrespectful

If you want to enjoy travel itself, I will suggest this hotel. you can save money. Hotel facilities are not new but the first floor market is famous for bento(lunch box) , Shusi and delicious breads. I heard that other hotels guest and people come to buy them. Although this hotel doesn't have new facilities, I like it.

** You must be a early bird to buy fresh hot breads and bentos. Most bread and bentos are sell very quick.

Room tip: Enjoy foods at the first floor.

We were given a two bedroom apartment which was huge! This was our fourth stop on a 16 day tour with Riviera Travel and it was lovely to be able to really relax in such spacious accommodation. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Near the promenade and the main attractions within easy reach.

We just popped in for lunch! All the staff gave us a great welcome, especially sommelier Mr Phan Sok Vuth whose interest in us and good English made the visit memorable. The food was good too, likewise the house red. Thank you.

Booked a double-room for 2 of us for a week.

Hotel building itself is old but the rooms are spotless and the sheets and towels are all clean. Staff were always ready to help and were really friendly.

We had a kitchenette which was handy for cooking, but the general store downstairs had so many food options (bento boxes, sushi, poke bowls, full bakery) at really cheap prices (6 USD or less).

If you need to be surrounded by fancy new furnishings and chain-smoking package tourists then maybe try the bigger hotels nearby.

If you want clean, breezy rooms with helpful staff and cheap, high-quality food, Himawari is a solid option

Room tip: Check out the cooked food and bakery downstairs
