This is a very good place at a great price!
Half the price of good downtown hotels.

It's not fancy.
In fact the exterior is quite tired.

But the rooms are large and most have been nicely renovated.
And the views are exceptional!!!!
All rooms overlook the water and end rooms have windows on 2 sides.

The pool is heated and the breakfast buffet is fine.

Best of all it's away from downtown Bar Harbor which is crowded, has wall-to-wall t-shirt shops and no views.
(It's a 5 minute drive or a half hour walk to downtown if you must go there)

The reason to visit Bar Harbor is to visit Acadia National Park which has spectacular seacoast and a couple of real mountains.
Pack a lunch and spend a could of days exploring!

Then head back to the Atlantic Eyrie.

Room Tip: End room, 3rd or 4th floor

We stayed two nights and on the positive side the room was big and the bed was fine and there was a lovely private balcony with a great view over the harbor. Also a beautiful swimming pool.
There is a courtesy bus from hotel to town which runs every 30 mins. Definitely a bonus as hotel is a long way out.
On the negative side the pillows were small, cheap and lumpy, but were replaced after advising the reception.
Last return bus to hotel was an early 7.30pm; if you wanted a later dinner you needed a taxi. You could drive yourself but roadworks all around and many detours make that difficult.
Breakfast was a disappointment. 3/10. Tired fruit salad, a single bowl of yoghurt for everyone to dip into with a spoon, some pastries and bread. Paper plates and bowls and plastic cutlery. Coffee pot not replenished until someone asked. Next time I would catch the bus to town.
The whole place looks and feels like the clock stopped in 1970. With a little imagination it COULD be wonderful.
And please, offer some nicer breakfast options!

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the village and the comparatively reasonable rates. The views from the deck and balconies is wonderful. The room was a bit dated but very clean. I judge cleanliness on the condition of the shower liner and it was like new. The bed was comfortable but on the firm side.
Breakfast was continental and basic. A hot dish would make this breakfast better. The people working behind the desk were very friendly and helpful with suggestions.

There are 2 non-view rooms. They are located over the portico to the main entrance. Parking lot noise is curbed by closing the windows and putting in the AC.

I would stay here again.

We stayed here during our summer trip to Acadia - The Hosts were amazing, extremely helpful and there is a bus transport to and from Bar Harbor and Acadia - makes it so very easy to get around without having to find a place to park.

Typically we stay at large resort hotels, but as we were traveling with our dog, the options were limited. We came across Atlantic Eyrie Lodge and are very glad we did! Beautiful views right off the balcony, spacious rooms, nice pool, decent continental breakfast. As others have said, the decor is certainly outdated; new bed linens and window treatments would be great! We didn't use the service, but the shuttle stops right at the Lodge.
