When we arrived for a driving break, we saw sea turtles swimming. Too bad they were not sunbathing on the sand. It was hard to take pictures, but so much fun to observe.

My husband and I happened upon Hale'iwa Beach Park and loved it. There are some really cool lava rock banks that make for an awesome view while relaxing on the beach. We saw 2 sea turtles while we were there and it was not a very busy beach unlike the Waikiki side of the island.

Peaceful setting with available options for picnics and bathing. Many times turtles the size of garbage can lids are also relaxing here. Please look but don't disturb them. What a calming scene!

Free parking, quiet, not too crowded beach. Make sure you have no valuables in your car laying in plane view anywhere you go in Oahu. This beach is right next to the Haleiwa Harbor, just a hop, skip and a jump from there. A great stopover while heading to the turtle beach 5 minutes in the direction to Waikiki.

we stopped a few times to just watch the sunset before going to dinner...just the right spot to back into and sit to relax at the end of the day with the folks who live and work there. Even had carry out one just to not miss the sunset
