We found this hidden gem while cruising with the top down one afternoon. The sugar cane industry was critical to the colonializaton of the Hawaiian island. It brought industrialization, immigration and island development. The process of harvesting and refining sugar brought technology, jobs and island growth in industry for Hawaiians.
The A&B Sugar Museum in Maui is a stop worth making.

This is a very informative museum on the sugar production of the past. We saw this after seeing the tropical plantation tour on our tour bus. I will say that this stop allowed us plenty of time to enjoy reading and seeing all that went into production. It has been preserved in this very interesting museum. I would recommend this if you like history and how things were done when life was more simplistic.

Had some extra time on our last day of vacation and saw this museum on Trip Advisor so we decided to stop and check it out. So glad we did. It was very interesting and gave us a look at the sugar cane industry in it’s hey day. If you like history, you will love this museum.

On our last day it was raining so we did 4 little tours/museum. We happened upon this one leaving the Maui Tropical Plantation, seeing the old sugar mill and wondering, what's that over there? Well the mill isn't a part of this museum for much longer sadly, but the pieces they have here were very interesting, the look into the beginning for these two families, to the establishment of the dream city, the harvesting of the cane and productions of sugar, and the separations of the various cultures, trying to keep them apart...and failing ultimately. A small but fascinating glimpse into the past. Well worth the stop.

Enjoyed a 1/2 hour touring the museum and grounds. Learned about the sugar industry and sugar processing. Nice displays. Cute little gift shop too.
