Description: In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn't long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born. Aloha Mixed Plate features true "Local" traditional plate lunches with open air seating directly on the ccean. We are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

The service was good and the sitting by the ocean was really nice. However I have to give this a Poor review (which I very rarely do) because of two things. First, the food just wasn't very good. But the real problem was watching a busboy clean up after a table of 8 European 20-somethings left by wiping the tables with their used napkins. (No spray cleaner, nothing, just a swipe with their used napkins, that was it.)
Eeeeewww!! Won't go here again.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The staff were cheerful and quick about drinks and refills. The food was amazing and portions were very generous (I couldn't finish my lunch) all under $20. I would go back in a heart beat for their poke, Lau Lau and Kalua pork. Make sure you try the chicken wings and the furikake fries. Those were the bomb!

Aloha Mixed Plate is a Lahaina landmark! It was always known as a very good meal at a very reasonable price. If you've not been there for a few years, they've updated the place to be more than just a good cheap meal. This is an outdoor restaurant with a fabulous ocean view, lots of trees, and right next door to the Old Lahaina Luau (same owners, in fact). Food is still good, but decor has been spruced up.
The menu here is extensive, with an island flair. Breakfast includes several fresh fruit plates, omelets, pancakes and french toast (made with Hawaiian sweet bread), platters, and yes, loco moco. You can order local favorites - spam and Portuguese sausage on the side. Dinner includes everything from sandwiches (Hawaiian inspired burger or fresh fish sandwich), to noodle dishes, to mixed plates (my favorite is the Aloha Mixed Plate) to huli chicken, kalua pig, or fresh fish. If you are adventurous, try the Ali'i platter. Plus all the fun tropical drinks you can imagine.
If you go for dinner, get there about 45 min to 1 hour before sunset (there can be a short wait), so that you are seated and can enjoy dinner as the sun sets. Once it starts getting dark, you can hear the music from the luau next door. This is always a fun and budget friendly place for dinner.
There is a parking lot, but it fills up quickly. If you cannot find a spot, park in the Long's lot across the street. AMP is located on Front St, about 6 blocks north of downtown Lahaina - behind the Safeway.

A business associate called and said "lets grab lunch", we ran through eh usual suspects of Biz luncheons locations and then had a spontaneous decision of Plate lunch - neither of us had been since they re-opened -
OUTSTANDING! - We sampled, well, too much, but (everything) was impeccably prepared and the renovations looks awesome. Way to keep the local landmark in excellent standing.
Mahalo!
