“Mosquitos Galore”

We have very mixed feelings about this adorable little private cottage. It's romantic couples dream. The cabin itself is decorated really well. It's very clean and you can see that it is well cared for by the owners. The supplies in the cabin are plentiful. Everything you need is there for cooking meals. It should have been an amazing stay, BUT we were never able to enjoy this amazing out of the way spot because the mosquitoes were so bad that we couldn't enjoy the hot tub or sitting out on the porch having morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. My husband attempted to go out to test the BBQ one afternoon and came back in with 8 new bites. We had Mosquito repellant other repellant products that we brought, but nothing worked. Other negatives were the mattress sank in the middle which normally wouldn't have been a problem but and because it was so hot and humid at night we didn't want to be sleep next to each other but had no choice because we kept rolling back into the middle of the bed. If you have no issue with Mosquitoes and you love to snuggle in bed even if you're hot then this is the place for you. Take away the Mosquitoes and the saggy bed and I would be back there in a heartbeat.

“Life on a flower plantation, under a billion stars, only noise is the birds chirping and geckos clacking!”

Okay, Hana is away from it all, as a starting premise. But the Cabana takes this a major step further. If you like solitude, soaking in a hot tub on a secluded lanai, with a tropical shower all around or truly more stars than I have ever seen, then this is your place. As some have noted, the WiFi is spotty (non-existent, in my experience) but if you MUST contact your broker, or other pressing matters, the owner invites you to come to the main house and sit on her lanai. As so nicely stated in the Lonely Planet Maui review " you should be looking at the stars anyway". Everything you need, is there. You can also use the owner's laundry, if needed. Kitchen is functional, full size refrigerator, deep bath tub/ shower, beach chairs, towels and beach towels, immaculately clean. Avocados dropping from the tree next to the carport, star fruit ripe in the jungle ahead of you. It all seems like the Garden of Eden!

“Our private paradise in a tropical garden!”

We fell in love with our little cottage situated in the center of a 5 acre tropical farm. We had complete privacy. The Hana Cabana was exactly what we wanted. Spacious, comfortable, attractive, quiet and a hot tub. We spent 3 days and plan to stay 5 days next trip. We arrived the 3rd day of heavy rains. The roads were damaged by slides and mud. But the rain stopped for our visit and we had a great time.

“Paradise in Hana”

We truly enjoyed our 3-night stay a couple weeks ago at the Hana Cabana. When we arrived, Mike greeted us with a bowl of fresh off the tree fruit and a map with some of the highlights in the area. When the rest of my family was coming to town to visit, he gladly gave the ok to have them come visit us there. We had a slight issue with the payment, but it was very quickly resolved with much apology. We spent our days hiking and the evening cooking, using the wonderful hot tub, and exploring the beautiful grounds. At one point my husband came back with a papaya he had just picked which we enjoyed for breakfast. Our biggest suggestion would be for a better grill, as the one here did not have any way to change the temperature to slow cook our steaks. If you are looking for somewhere peaceful to relax that is a close drive to some of the most spectacular sights, this is it! A close drive and hike to Wai'anapanapa State Park (Black sand beach and caves), Red Sand Beach, Haleakala National Park O'heo Gulch (Seven sacred pools) -sights near the end of the road to Hana which were not crowded even on a weekend and seemingly hidden gems.
