We visited Mana Aina for five nights April 25-30 and were very happy with our stay.
The setting is peaceful, surrounded by trees and green lawn down a long driveway. We were greeted by one of the proprietors who was very friendly, welcoming and gracious, (along with her mama goat with baby goat!).
The studio was very spacious and clean with a view out an expansive green yard to a forest full of birdsong.
Alejandro, who manages the place, met us and was equally as friendly and gracious.
The location on Maui was perfect for us, as its very close to Pa'ia, the funky little town we love to visit, with Mana Foods and a great beach for turtle viewing. Its also close to Haleakala National Park.
While on the island, we made a few trips through resort areas to visit various beaches and were so grateful to return back to our quiet, peaceful lodging away from traffic and tourism.
I would highly recommend staying here for people who enjoy being away from crowds and noise and who prefer more of a rural setting and who can appreciate waking up to watching a little goat playing outside and chickens visiting your door.
Not the first time I stay at Mana Aina on Maui, and not the last!!! The property his so nice and always well maintained, every studio has a different design, and I had a large space to do my yoga every morning!!! I recommend this vacation rental if you wanna stay on Maui!
This property is exceptional in so many ways. We feel lucky to have found it and we will return. This large family estate is secluded and supremely peaceful and quiet. You won't easily find a better night's sleep on Maui. The grounds are magnificent and lovingly cared for. It's very close to the town of Paia where we found the most wonderful organic foods store (Mana Foods). They have a great selection of local organic produce. The volcanic soil is rich and fertile and the food grown there has a vitality that I've only found in the Hawaiian islands. You can feel it. We ate almost every meal in our cottage which has a modern kitchen stocked with everything we needed including salad spinner and vegetable steamer. There's also a rice cooker, blender, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and a selection of pots, pans, utensils and a salad bowl that left us needing nothing. The units are clean, modern and spacious with excellent ventilation and lighting. All screens were perfect, and we never saw a mosquito. Beds, bedding and towels were all excellent. Bathroom was beautiful tile with a great shower, tub and hairdryer. There is a free laundry room (WOW!) that has many beach chairs, boogie-boards, umbrellas and even a couple of beach bags stocked with shovels, pails and other toys for the children. The host, Alejandro, is wonderful and shared their fresh eggs with us. We had no idea that the beautiful chickens would have such adorable personalities, and eggs. This incredible private experience is only minutes away from town and I think Costco is only about 10 miles beyond that. The rest of the island seems so easy to get to as well. To get to the volcano just head up the mountain, very direct. Big Beach and West Maui are an easy drive too. Of course the property is a mile or two up the road from the Hana Highway. To sum: the host is excellent and the info described in the listing is spot on. The property is spectacular and the accommodations are excellent. It is an excellent value. We stayed ten nights. I highly recommend a stay here. Call Alejandro at 808-280-6110
I'm happy to say our stay at Alejandro's beautiful and comfortable studio was everything we wanted.
There was plenty of space, the design was quirky and interesting, with lots of light and a view onto the garden, and a fully equipped kitchen (all the usual stuff, but unexpected gear, including a blender, rice cooker, salad spinner, and get this -- sharp knives!). We also had our own, private Gecko looking out for insects.
You feel like you're in the country (you are, actually) and even with big sliding glass patio doors, it felt private. We even had regular visitors -- Florence, the shy goat, and a half dozen chickens patrolling the yard, keeping it free from bugs.
Alejandro, our friendly host, gave us a tour of his garden and introduced us to his smart and affectionate chickens.
The location is pretty close to ideal. We were far enough away from town (and neighbors), but close enough to head into town -- both Haiku and Paia -- to enjoy dinners out. Paia's Mana Foods is the spot if you're planning on cooking in.
If you stay here, take Alejandro's restaurant recommendations: He knows the restaurants and markets in Paia and Haiku.
Would we stay again. For sure!
