We stayed here for only a night, but we had such a wonderful experience!! The check in was smooth. We arrived early expecting to ask them to hold our bags, but Sara said our room was ready and we could check in right away! What a nice surprise! Went out sightseeing and came back to a very delicious dinner at the Lanai Bar and Grille right at the hotel. Such great service! Our waiter was really friendly and more than helpful with suggestions. We also had the bread pudding for dessert! Amazing!! You MUST have that to top off your meal!
I also met Allison, the manager who was super friendly and the most down to earth person. She really runs a wonderful hotel. You can tell by all of the people who work there, all very very friendly and cheerful! I would definitely return and recommend to anyone heading to Lanai. It is a older hotel, but it truly adds to the charm and nostalgia of the place. We loved our stay!! Thank you very much to all at Hotel Lanai for making our very first visit to your island memorable!

We had a great time in Lanai. It’s right in town and close to the shops and restaurants. And perhaps the best restaurant is right at the hotel. It was very convenient and served a simple cold breakfast. The staff was very friendly and the Jeep rental (Cheap Jeeps) dropped off and picked up right at the hotel. They had live music on Friday night. A much better idea than the super expensive Four Seasons. Give them a try.

We live on Oahu and wanted to visit Lana’i for the first time. There are very few options. Either you can afford to spend more than $1000/night at the Four Seasons or you can choose the Hotel Lana’i or a random B & B. We chose the Hotel because of the photos and the opportunity to have dining on the premises. This is extremely important on an island where the dining choices are almost non-existent. The Hotel is by no means inexpensive or even reasonable, but as I mentioned, the options are few.

We booked our rooms with no problems, and check-in was easy. The folks on Lana’i truly practice Aloha, which helps maintain the family ambiance of the island. Even our rooms had a certain charm, but the management needs to Improve quality to match the price.

Our room had several cosmetic flaws that reminded me of cheap motels along the US Interstate. A large portion of the wall was scraped with peeling paint. The door to our patio needed maintenance, which my husband fixed after borrowing a screwdriver from the desk clerk. The bathroom shower stall has cracks, and various sections of the wall have mildew stains that appear to be painted over somewhat unsuccessfully. One of the bathroom faucet handles is broken, and the caulking behind the sink is stained and looks as if an amateur was let loose to do the work. The towels are thin and small, but they will lend more substantial beach towels. I recommend you use those for your showers each day. The hot water heater is the “on demand” type, which is great until the temperature fluctuates during the shower and either goes cold for a few seconds or immediately scalds you. (This happened to my husband and he came out looking like his chest was sunburned.)

The continental breakfast is adequate, but again, the room price should buy a guest more than a few cereals, fruit, and muffins.

This is a property with historic significance and faded charm. I hope the management will continue to improve the condition and quality without raising the prices. Tourism is the economic foundation for the island, and not all travelers can afford the Four Seasons resorts. If that’s the future of Lana’i, the island will revert to plantation days where only the rich can enjoy the benefits of this beautiful place.

I love historic properties and so I chose to stay here. Extremely expensive for what you get, though. While well preserved, the place is low on amenities. They really would do good to install an outside court yard with a hot tub and a small cocktail bar. The room was comfortable and we loved our semi-private porch and the view of the front lawn. While the staff was friendly, the place does not really seem to embrace hospitality: it is small enough to be considered a boutique style hotel, or almost a B&B - and thus should have an evening wine table and a place to encourage meeting others and communicating - but it doesn't. Breakfast could be so well done, given the facility, but it is treated as an after-thought - very little interest is shown and nothing special is presented. We had been told about how wonderful the dining is at night, but our one night there was the one night a week the restaurant is closed. That's not a smart move for a tourist-based industry. I like the place very much and I would stay there again, and I encourage others to stay there - but it could be so much better.

Are you looking for a place to stay on Lanai this is a great choice. The Lanai room was spacious and comfortable. The location was in the heart of Lanai City, close to small shops and restaurants. A plus is the on property restaurant. Make this your choice.
