The view is what makes this home..it was magnificent. The price for the rental wasn't bad at all and it was well stocked. It could use a little tlc in areas like the door screen and some of the windows but overall a nice place to call home while on vacation.
Perfect spot, wonderful accommodation with dream view. Very well equipped and nicely furnished. Very quiet and idyllic location with stunning view. If we will ever have the chance to return to Hawaii we will for sure return here.
This is an amazing home! The view is incredible and the amenities are, too.
From the beautiful bathroom with slipper tub, to the baby grand in the living room with a truly interesting history, to the seclusion of the huge lot, this is a unique rental.
The kitchen is very modern and well equipped, the bedroom is large, comfortable and has lots of closet space.
So nice to come back in the evening after a day of sightseeing to enjoy hanging out in the hot tub and watch the stars. Sunrises are equally spectacular. We also loved falling asleep listening to the waves and the occasional peep of the coqui frogs.
The management company are great to deal with. You just couldn't ask for more.
This was our second stay at Onomea Bay Cliffside Cottage. There were two updates from our last stay a room air conditioner and a room darkening curtain. Both appreciated.
We love the privacy of this cottage. The kitchen is well appointed ( just missing a pizza cutter).
Watching the sunrise every morning and waking up to birdsong and being lulled to sleep by the ocean and the coqui frogs was delightful.
One thing we wished for in our first visit was a small gas grill so we bought one for the cottage and hope other guests will enjoy it as much as we did.
The cottage is being well maintained. One thing to note is the cottage is on the Hawaiian Air flight path and Blue Hawaiian helicopter tours that go to the falls. This didn't bother us though.
It is about a 10 to 15 minute drive to Hilo. There is a nice Safeway for groceries or the KTA super store. Many nice restaurants to choose from.
First visit - Volcano National Park, Akaka and rainbow falls, the botanical garden, Kapoho tidal pools, Green sand beach, a visit to Kapalana and many other beaches.
Second visit - VNP at night (definitely a must to see the lava dance in the caldera), Waipio valley shuttle tour, Carlsmith beach park- loved this, green turtles swim near you, Panaewa zoo, Hilo Coffee Mill, The Big Island Candy store and The Hawaiian Vanilla company.
Love the Hilo side so much better than the Kona side!
Hope to return again and again....
Perfectly secluded house on a cliff surrounded by tropical forest and amazing ocean views. Enjoyed the night skies from the jacuzzi and the sunrise from the deck. Relaxed reading on the hammock. Perfect location to explore Hilo and the volcanoes.
