The northeast coast of the Big Island of Hawaii is as close to paradise as one can find on planet Earth. Dramatic coastlines with exquisite ocean waters (and some beaches) verdant hills and mountains, and a blast of botanical richness hard to imagine. We were beyond fortunate to stay at Hamakua Chocolate Farm. The very large house has two units with full bathrooms on the lower level with private outdoor entrances - the views are right out of National Geographic and up close is the grove of cacao trees that Dan and Berndt are farming amongst the growing artisanal chocolate industry of Hawaii. As hosts Dan and Berndt were gracious, fun and informative. This place is heaven - the house is recently made and everything is totally up-to-date and made for comfort. The highlight of the trip was a boat ride watching the lava pour into the Pacific Ocean - not to be missed and the air was always fresh and tropical thanks to the trade winds.
