“Fantastic getaway – everything about the ranch was exceptional!”
Reviewed 7 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We (two young German couples) spent three nights at the Grizzly Cub Cabin early June and immensely enjoyed our stay. The family-owned Big Diamond Ranch was the perfect getaway to explore “Yellowstone’s backyard”.

The cabin itself is beautifully done, comfortable, attractively furnished and immaculately clean. The open concept kitchen and living room area is exceptionally well-equipped and we had nothing to bring than food and drinks (that we bought on our way in Jackson Hole, however there are also grocery stores in Dubois). There’s also a fire wood oven inside as well as a private fire pit and outdoor grill that we used each night (wood is included). Either sitting outside close to the fireplace, enjoying the peaceful valley or chilling in the cozy cabin – the place was always most enjoyable. The American-Swiss host family has put a lot of love, sense for detail and high quality into the cabins and it shows. It’s all just like on the photos – if not even better.

The area itself offers new local sites that are less touristic than the Yellowstone area but still as beautiful. We rent some fly fishing gear at Marlow’s Fly Shop in Dubois and went to a beautiful place called Double Cabin for fishing and explored the Shoshone National Forest with 4-wheels. We rent them at the ranch and had easy access to trails right from the cabin.

Kathrin, Martin and their lovely kids were very thoughtful hosts, exceptionally helpful, incredibly gracious and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. They are also great advisers for e.g. hikes, things to do/see or where to dine on the road. We would stay there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend this property. It was one of our favorite trips and a fantastic getaway – if you love the outdoors and enjoy wildlife in a stunning and peaceful area, this place is the one to go!

“Great hosts!”

We had booked the Glamour Teepee on the Big Diamond Ranch for three nights, planning to camp and star gaze there. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. We arrived in the rain and sat there looking at the wet teepee, wet fire ring, and muddy ground and knew we could not stay there, especially since rain and snow were forecast for three more days. We thought we would have to go into Dubois and try to find a room knowing it might not be easy during hunting season. However, just then, a man drove up and introduced himself as Martin, our host, who said he had a cabin available that we could stay in. We paid the difference in the rental amounts, which was not as much as we expected, due to Martin's kindness. We gratefully moved into the lovely Grizzly Cub cabin. The cabin was impeccably clean, very well equipped, and very comfortable. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there! Our thanks to Martin and Kathrin for their hospitality! We hope to stay at the Big Diamond Ranch again some day.

Excellent accommodations. Family owned. Stayed for the month of June and plan to return. Host very helpful and interesting family. Area is better than Yellowstone or Jackson. Grandiose scenery, without the crowds. Wildlife viewing excellent. Thrift shop in Jackson a must.
