The hotel was an interesting historic place to stay once in a life time. The room was comfortable, and our pup enjoyed his treats that were in a box next to a bowl. Although, they should have included bottled water. The staff was friendly, although no one told us breakfast was included. The woman who checked us in was new to the area and could not answer any of our questions. We returned to the desk later to ask someone else. I would not visit again. Once you visit the island and city for a few days, there is not much else to do there. Warning: do not order the WV basket either...you could easily find the chocolates in town, but the pepperoni rolls were the worst that we had ever tasted! They were all dry bread and maybe a hint of a tiny piece of pepperoni. Also, there are a ton of hidden fees that you will not know about until you check out. The taxes and fees will increase your stay by so much more than I have ever seen at a hotel. We knew about the dog fee of $65...which is more than some nicer hotels, but the other fees and taxes are crazy. For only two nights, we paid close to $100 in taxes, host fees, occupancy fees, Parkersburg taxes, city taxes, and credit card fees! That amount does not include the pet fee either. So if you think you are getting away for a decent price at booking, please think again. NO ONE tells you about these fees so I thought I should. There are much better places to visit for more than $525 for two nights!
