Basic clean hotel. The TripAdvisor description states free breakfast but owner Raj stated he doesn't offer any longer but offered me coffee and a honey bun in the morning. That's OK as Cracker Barrel is only .2 miles away. Room is clean and well stocked but slightly outdated. For $50 a night it is a good deal for basic accommodations. Only complaint is the cigarette smoke smell inside the hallway and entrance foyer, but my room had minimal odor.
My girlfriend and I stay here when I am working in the area. We usually arrive late at night and are ready to crash so I can e ready for work in the morning. Usually get checked in by the owner, who is a foreigner with not so pleasant personality. They have hired a new lady to work the front desk at night recently. She's always smiling and will chat with you while checking you in and actually make you feel welcome unlike the owner. I believe she said her name is Renee and she tries to take care of the guests here for a change. When we have gotten there at night, she's also usually cleaning things in the lobby or out front. This place has needed someone to do that for a long time. Now if they just get the old lady and young boy that do housekeeping to clean like she does and smile even half as much as she does, they'd be heading in the right direction. Oh, and get the grumpy owner to just stay away.
Checked in to the room Thursday evening. Rooms were suppose to be non smoking, but there was lingering smoke odor in the first floor entry and hallway. On the way to our room, notice there was an ice machine in laundry room, but had a sign "out of order", asked owner/manager, he said if you want walk down road to another motel to get ice. Once we opened the door we smelled smoke in the room. We requested to move to 2nd floor room, since they were non smoking rooms originally. On about the 2nd or 3rd day, started smelling smoke in hallway on the second floor. Only personnel that we saw was the house cleaning crew. Also the website mentions breakfast , but we're told they could not serve a breakfast do to health rules. There was not any coffee or coffee pots in rooms, some had iron and ironing boards, our room on first floor had neither. Not satisfied with service,
Check-in was easy and when I got to the room I tried the remote and it didn't work. There was no phone in the room, so I used my cell to call the front desk and she said that she would give me some new batteries if I would come down and get them, as she couldn't leave the desk. I did that and to my surprise she followed me up to make sure that it worked. The bed was comfortable and the room was fine, just no phone or clock. For the money it was fine.
Stayed over night for a wrestling tournament for my son. Condoms in the vending machine. People having sex in the hot tub when I walked my kids to the pool. Blankets were old pillows were stained and gross floors were stained and disgusting. There’s a strip club next door and I guarantee a few hookers you could hire for the night and well get your protection from the vending machines. Breakfast well I wouldn’t know bc I wasn’t feeding my kids there. No pets allowed but the owner I guess has a huge pit bull it was sitting the lobby when I walked in and the lady told my kids not to go near it because it’s mean and grumpy.
