We stayed here the night before my husband had brain surgery at a nearby hospital. We would have had a really long drive early if we hadn't. First, the hotel is under renovation, but it needs torn down. Next, our ac unit did not work. When I called the front desk, after completely spraying the room down with Lysol, I was told to use only the thermostat on the wall. I did, and the air never came on. I called back to the front desk, and was told it is a very old unit, give it 15 minutes. I went down to the lobby to get a cold drink and the worker was watching t.v.. I told him the air still had not come on, to which he replied, "Has it been 15 minutes?" . I told him yes and he said to give it 15 more. So, after one hour +, we still had a hot room ( it was around 86 in Charleston that day) and there was no shown concern for us to have any, so I gave up. The room was as clean as a housekeeper could get it, but the grout, tub, and light switches, outlets, were filthy. The tub had mold and mildew all behind the caulk, the grout was caked with decades old filth, and the light switches and outlets were literally black at the switch plates. This is not something the housekeeper could clean. I have never been contacted about the air, have called 4 times, only to be cut off. It is a shame my husband, suffering from brain cancer and facing surgery, had to have such a miserable night of no sleep.
