Peacefully secluded, while still just around the corner from Port Townsend.
The owner's sons live in a nearby clearing of the same wooded lot. They are very kind and helpful and can offer a lot of local advice. (It's also nice to know that you are not entirely alone in the woods) They also have a happy French bulldog that made my children and mother laugh with his frolics. He'll come over to visit if you don't object. We never did.
We also found the house well stocked (eg, with coffee, soap, etc). That's a nice touch since invariably you are short one of these essentials on the first day.
Our stay was fantastic, the house is absolutely charming and the hosts gracious. Communication was excellent from the start, the host was on-site to meet us when we arrived, gave us a quick tour and then left us to enjoy our stay. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. They even had fresh home-roasted coffee set out for us! Spent part of the afternoon reading in the solarium hammock, by far my favorite place in the house. We were also really impressed by the metal railings and spiral staircase, truly a work of art. Our bed was SO comfortable, the linens and towels were fabulous. The yard was huge and we took advantage of it to play a bit of croquet. Port Townsend is full of interesting things to see, and great restaurants. Leif suggested breakfast at Hudson Point Cafe which we really enjoyed, and definitely don't miss out on a slice of pizza from Waterfront. Wow. I look forward to staying here again! Andrew and Leif, thank you so much for welcoming us into your wonderful home.
