“Nice place, comfortable”

I meant to review this earlier. Time flies! Anyhow, if your looking for a modern updated place with granite countertops, etc., like so many of the newer places don't go. This is not for you. These are the same people who ruined my once favorite Iron Springs making it unaffordable. If your looking for a nice clean place with the old cottage charm of the kind of place common in the days before the invasion of the 90's -2000's this is for you. The view from the place we rented was stunning with ocean views from the living room and kitchen. The ocean is about 200 feet past a small grove of trees and stream. This is pretty close.

The only distraction was we came at a time when there was a huge party of people (over 20) in the adjacent large cottage also owned by RH. They kept looking over at us from the deck overlooking our kitchen making for not a lot of privacy. The area is also pretty built up with almost every imaginable cottage and vacation house lining the street on both sides. This is not the same as camping on the Olympic beaches so adjust your expectations. And for those wanting a quiet time on the beach there are a lot of people there reflecting both the time of year and the popularity of the Moclips to Ocean Shores road and everywhere in between. This is not like it used to be back when I was a kid. But none of this has anything to do with the rental which was fine.

“The Rough House lives up to its name”

I stayed here for 5days and rented this place by looking it up on the web site. It says 60 steps to ocean but I means 60 steps down the stairs from the upper apt. The ocean can only be seen by standing on the upper deck of the upper apt which is old and unsafe. The hot tub is enclosed by a plexy-glass building and was full of sand. The ocean can not be seen due to the houses that have been built across the dirt road. The fire pit was washed away yrs ago and there is no where to sit outside. The pictures on this web site look nothing like the actual place. we were all very disappointed and thought by now Mr Rough would have updated them. Once you walk down the 60 steps you have to cross a dirt road go thru a over grown trail to the sand them begin your walk to the ocean. There is no bbq and washer and dryer in the next place over in garage was also filled with sand. save your money go somewhere else

Management Response

We rarely have people that have bad experiences, and we are very sorry to hear of this one. There are several false statements. You can see the ocean from every west-facing room. The official high tide mark is 183 feet from the bottom of the stairs, or about 60 paces. Yes, there is a trail to the beach, and plants alongside it grow. We clear the trail periodically. There are several bbqs available, as well as two washers and two dryers available (one set in the Cabin and the other in the R&R House next door). The upper deck has been fully reinforced and is strong enough to hold more than 30 people, according to our contractor. The hot tub and garage are cleaned out periodically, but people track sand back in. I wish these people had asked for a refund as we would have gladly given one rather than have a posting like this imply that we don't care.
