“Wow! nice!”
Reviewed 18 October 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Well, I really can't believe it's taken me this long to review this lovely place but I would absolutely recommend it as a home base for exploring Orcas and the other San Juan Islands. The place is immaculate and spacious and comfortable with outstanding views. The owner "has a lotta rules" about her place but rightfully so because it is stunning and who would want to ruin it by not taking care of the place?

I had no problems making the reservations, getting information about how to find it, getting the deposit returned in a timely manner, etc. The kitchen is very functional (and usually has some basics so I recommend checking out what's already there before shopping for groceries in town). The multiple deck options made it easy to have plenty of space in our togetherness and a place to read and a place to dine al fresco with all the aforementioned stunning views. I can't imagine anyone regretting choosing this lovely place to stay.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 21 September 2016 for a stay in June 2016

My kids and I stayed here in June, and will remember this treehouse for a lifetime! They loved every moment and we all wished we could have stayed longer.
The building is constructed beautifully and the location is serene and peaceful. The house was stocked with everything we needed. You might want to pack some DVD's if you need to have TV . The wifi is a little too spotty for Netflix.

“Magical forest retreat”
Reviewed 11 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Wonderful views, relaxation and silence amidst the trees. Easy access to East Sound. Beautiful home and the tower provides a wonderful spot to read and enjoy the views.

“Exceeded Our Expectations!”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The forest "Hobbit" house met all of our expectations and then some. Suzanne could not have been easier to coordinate with and the property was beautiful, relaxing and romantic. We were able to completely "unplug" and relax in a way we haven't for years. Yet, the home is close to the main island town of Eastsound where you can reconnect with restaurants, the grocery store or other activities. We would highly recommend this property.

“Enchanting Hobbit House”
Reviewed 22 August 2016 for a stay in October 2015

We had never been to the San Juan Islands, and were totally delighted with the experience and with the Hobbit House. It is remote - everything on the island feels very remote - though the house is not too far from the town with the grocery store and restaurants - but be prepared to feel very secluded. One note about town - we were there midweek in October and many of the restaurants were closed so it was difficult eating out if that is something you like to do.

On to the house - it was totally wonderful. Immaculately clean, amazing views. Check in and check out were easy and timely. One morning we were treated to an amazing sunrise. We usually made breakfast and lunch in the house, which was really great. We didn't have reason to use the tower part of the house but I loved that it was there. Towels were fluffy, and the house was well stocked with necessities (soap, seasonings and other kitchen stables, laundry detergent). The flower pots outside and decorations in the house were all fantastic, and the woodworking details in the house were great. I loved the books in the main room and made use of them! You can get Netflix on the tv, but the service is a little spotty (not the fault of the house - it's just very remote). We did go down to the beach one day and got some amazing photographs. I wish we had more time to spend there. We did some hiking - Turtleback Mountain was amazing, and Moran State Park was also great (you can drive to the peak if hiking isn't your thing). I don't know if we'll ever make it back to the San Juan Islands, but I will always remember this trip and our stay in the Hobbit House with great fondness.
