“Cozy yet spacious fairy cottage”
Reviewed 29 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had such a lovely time at the house. We'd stayed here once before the recent remodel and the changes are perfect (new sleeping nooks and bathrooms including the most luxurious bathtub with a stunning view); they add even more charm to the most dreamy farmhouse. There are so many little efficient and thoughtful considerations throughout. We ended up needing the two emergency toothbrushes in the downstairs bathroom, for example. Everything is easy to find, so clean, organized and convenient. We even borrowed a few baskets for our Easter egg hunt. My family's hope is to treat this as our get-away house and go there more often. It's everything we could want in a place and more - and it's surprisingly easy and quick to get there from Seattle! We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather that kept many of us down on the expansive and fascinating beach, in the gorgeous yard (where you can watch the kids no matter where they are from the many windows if you're inside), or out by the fire in the evening. The house is so comfortable and cozy though that I almost wished we'd had an extra day that forced us to stay inside reading, writing, and playing games in any number of snuggly spots. The kitchen has everything you need (though someone in our party was wishing for a coffee grinder) and, while there's no dishwasher, the view from the sink makes it a lovely place to wash and dry with a friend. Thank you for sharing the special place you've created. It was a treat and everyone loved their time there.

“Family, friends, garden, beach, sunset, sunrise, ocean.”
Reviewed 7 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We had a wonderful time at the Aerie and will definitely be back. Carolyn met us there and showed us everything. She had thought of everything, from fresh flowers to soft beds, fun toys and places for the kids to run around. The set up was great for our family of 4 and our friends who also had 2 young children. Everyone had their own space when needed and there was more than plenty to do - play on the beach and look for crabshells, feed the alpacas with Bill, sit by the fire, share a meal together and watch the sunset. Our time there was very special.

“Whibdey Island Paradise. You will fall in love with the Alpacas and Llamas Joe and Tarzan”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My family and I (2 adults, 2 children age 6 and 9) stayed at the Maxwelton Aerie Alpaca Ranch this summer. The house is amazing. It is well-appointed and perfectly designed for an unforgettable retreat. We enjoyed board games for adults and kids, a wonderfully organized library with all kinds of books about local nature and the area, and cooking in a lovely kitchen, we had everything we could ask for.

But the real reason we're already planning our next visit is the alpacas. Bill, who cares for them, showed us how to feed them, explained their story and their care, and we simply fell in love with the herd and the highlight of the day was feeding them each morning.

The bird watching in the area is also amazing, and the view from the house out toward the ocean is breathtaking, but overwhelmingly our experience was defined by the Alpacas and two very expressive Llamas, Joe and Tarzan.

Glad you love the alpacas. Bill is a treasure and loves to share them with our guests. For only being an hour and a half from a big city, you really feel like you you have been to a whole other world after a few days. Hope you can come again. Carolyn

JoAnne, It was a pleasure to have you and your family visit and I am so glad your trip was memorable. It gives me great pleasure to know that the farm is being loved and enjoyed while I am in Seattle working. We love going there with our family and love to share it with others. Hope you can come again. This is a great place for your Seattle family and Wisconsin family to enjoy each other.

“Excellent and unique vacation experience”
Reviewed 3 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Our extended family, ten in all, spent four days here and had such a wonderful time. The farmhouse itself has so much charm and history. The owner, Carolyn, is the most gracious host we have ever met. She took the time to show us the entire house and gave us so much info about the farm and the local area. We can tell that every effort was made to ensure our stay was that much more special. The house is clean and in very good order. Part of the second floor has recently been renovated while the rest of the house is a little dated. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you would need - including utensils, silverware and china. Each bathroom is very well stocked with towels and hand soap. The furniture is somewhat old and rustic but they add to the ambiance and character of the place. And then, there's the million dollar view of the bay from the living room, dining room, kitchen and the second floor bedrooms and bathroom as well. Each morning, Bill, the caretaker of the alpacas and llamas would meet us at the house and take us through the pasture to feed the animals. He very patiently explained the process to us each time since we have newcomers joining us each day. All in all, there really is nothing negative I can say about this place. I could go on and on but needless to say this was by far our most memorable family reunion. Bring realistic expectations with you and you'll have a great time. With a large group like ours it was well worth the cost of the rental and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Thank you so much for your review. It was a pleasure to have you visit the farm. We are continuously doing upgrades to the farmhouse to make the experience more enjoyable for our guests but we make every effort to maintain the 30's feeling of the historic farmhouse. I hope your family can come again next year for another great family reunion.
