Owner description: Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

Having our Senior Pass to National Parks only cost us $5 each for being able to visit all of Historic Jamestowne for 7 days!! Great lecture & interactive questions by Park Ranger of history of Jamestowne, the fort, inhabitants, Native Americans and much more. Plus exhibits and all artifacts uncovered by archaeologists! Very interesting period of our Nation's history!

History, stories, artifacts, splendor, ... They're all here. The palisades are being restored and the first building (a barracks) had been rebuilt. The first church is evident and several graves have been discovered. This was a fascinating place to visit.

We enjoyed a great visit at Historic Jamestown over Fall Break. The kids really enjoyed the sights and there’s someone that interests everyone.

We had a good time and kids got to see history in real life. It's was a little chilly this time of year but if recommend going later in season when it's a little warmer.
