Started off with drinks and breads. Had an excellent lobster bisque and Caesar salad as appetizers. Filet mignon with a side of grilled Brussel sprouts. Finished with their lemon marshmallow mirangue pie. Staff were very attentive through the evening

Our first time wondering around Reston Town Center after a much needed trip to the Apple Genius bar for laptop revitalization. Walked in to Saturday brunch. The dining room was open, inviting and managed the sound well. Started off with a couple of mimosas, I recommend the Grand Mimosa. The Filet and Scrambled Eggs were quite a surprise. The filet was cooked perfectly, the eggs were fluffy and the diced potatoes was the topper. What a great meal. Many brunches in the area will take a normal dish and "doctor" it up to make it look avant garde or magazine worthy. Not here, what you order is what you get with none of the "extras for the sake of extras". Service was friendly and attentive. A must go for anyone in the Reston Town Center area!

Jackson's is a good place for people watching (such as it is in somewhat staid Reston Town Center) and the only place whose kitchen is open after 10 pm. The best area is the open air indoor / outdoor bar for food and drinks. The worst is the indoor sit down restaurant. Avoid that at all costs.

The open air bar is friendly with several small cocktail tables and bar seating. The bartenders are professional, polite, attentive, and smart. A call out for excellence to Deanna and Julia. You can order off the full restaurant menu and the service is relatively fast. Drinks are expensive, but comparable to all competition in the area. No happy hour. The atmosphere is casual, relaxed, and fun. The clientele is very diverse - from kids hanging out to professionals in evening attire.

The restaurant is a different story. The booths are laid out in a grid in one large room and is more like a Denny's or a Howard Johnson's rather than areas with ambiance and privacy, so the noise level is horrific. It is almost impossible to hear your companions. The waiters must be paid for speed to turn the tables.

Our waiter, Jesse, paid us almost no mind and as a result lost the company a great deal of money, as we had planned to order much more than we did given that he never asked us if we wanted to order other things. When we ordered dinner, he left abruptly without asking if we wanted to order a beverage; he cleared our plates before we were finished and before we realized he was taking everything away; he put the check on the table without asking if we were finished, if we wanted to order anything else, and if we were ready to pay. We had to clamor to get his attention even to place our dinner order.

As for food:
The very best are the fries -- handcut, very fresh, shoestring, wonderful. Just great! They don't give you much ketchup so you have to ask for more.

Jumbo lump crabcake sandwich was neither jumbo nor lump, but was merely shredded crabmeat and not a lot of it. It would have been better without the remoulade sauce which made the whole sandwich very soggy.

Lobster roll is decent lobster chunks, good sized and relatively fresh, although not cooked in sea water. The roll is correct as a top sliced hot dog roll but is too buttery. Toasted well - just too greasy with all the butter. Not much celery (good!) but too much lettuce (bad - who ever heard of a lobster roll with lettuce?!?!). Not spice and no Old Bay (Very Good!!!) but too much mayo (bad).

Caesar salad was horrid. Old, dried out romaine and just a dusting of parm cheese. Very small. Horrible.

Burger was ok. Not great.

Wine by the glass is very pricey. Good selection though but very expensive.

Great food, nice atmosphere, usually crowded, but excellent service once you are seated. The outdoor bar area is very popular and usually crowded, especially Friday and Saturday nights! It is a great location for people watching. Jackson's has a good and diverse menu. It is part of the Great American Restaurant group and all food is good at those restaurants.
Recently attended a social group meeting at Jackson's and it was a Saturday night and it was packed. Despite the feeling of a sardine, it was a nice evening, hard to get a server to bring drinks, but a quick trip the bar less than 10 feet behind me resolved the problem. I didn't see many people eating at the tables around the bar, but there were a few so it was possible to eat while people watching. Much more comfortable and less cramped inside the restaurant, though.
Highly recommend a visit to this great place!
