We dined at this amazing restaurant in Kerikeri last Saturday evening.

I have been wanting the opportunity to try their cuisine by looking at the menu in the window some time ago.

Such friendly service, very accommodating with requests and food that was just divine. We are garlic bread starters usually so no disappointment there. Another guest had the fresh calamari, which was really nice. Mains steak, john dory and chicken breast with a delish sauce which had garam marsala sauce with mushrooms on mash, and a side of carrots.

Desserts tiramisu, poached pear, dutch apple cake, and affogato, which just was the final touch to a wonderful meal. Presentation was very professionally done. We can't wait to go back there for another occasion, you won't be disappointed. Bookings required. Thank you Ziezo

Some great restaurant options in Kerikeri. Not many places that aren't good. Mains $22 -30. Zeizos is in the main street and only open certain nights. The chef is Rolf and been in various restaurants in Kerikeri. His food is always consistent. Does a great Indonesian beef curry which is a specialty of his. I had a pork belly delicious with a nice Lake Hayes pinot. Great meal.

Have been going to this place regularly for over a year now. They never fail to serve up gorgeous meals at a reasonable price (excellent quality, nicely seasoned, great flavors).

Be aware seating is limited (~22), so bookings are recommended. They only do evenings.

The husband and wife team with Rolf the chef and Anita doing the front of house activities works very well. Both are charming people with whom you can interact and enjoy your dining experience knowing that they are 100% commited to what they are doing.

The menu has sufficient content to pose a challenge. So many nice dishes to choose from that it is a delight to have to consider each very carefully before making a decision.

We declined to have a starter and chose a simple main course that we can’t often get done very well. My wife chose Spaghetti Carbonara and delighted in every morsel. In fact there was barely any pattern left on her plate afterwards. I chose the Angus Sirloin steak served on mashed potatoes and accompanied by green beans (aka French Beans / Haricots Vert?) and carrots. Rolf also served an accompaniment of a complex sauce based on beetroot. So far away from steak and chips with salad......

An excellent wine list to choose from at sensible prices. Our choice was a half-bottle of Cote du Rhone and it was really very good.

We couldn’t resist sharing a desert of Dutch apple tart with Walnut crumble and vanilla ice cream. It was devine? I also chose to drink a glass of the 10-year old Tawney Port with my desert. It too was excellent ( having lived in Portugal for 15 years, I have some experience and this Port is very good).

We have been impressed by very few restaurants during our past two weeks in Kerikeri but Zeizo Restaurant was impressive.

Before we left we reserved a table for next weekend - our last chance to return before we leave.

Thank you Rolf and Anita for a most enjoyable dinner last night!

From the outside this looks like a pretty basic small town cafe, the decor is a little 80s the menu posted in the window is small but diverse, and sounded interesting, but nothing really stunning. Turns out this is the 'go to' restaurant for the locals. What a treat for the taste buds! The depth and complexity of the flavours was a surprise for such an unassuming little restaurant, we spent a lot of time saying OMG you have got to try this as we sampled each others meals. Every course an absolute taste delight. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and obviously love what they do. The wine list was excellent, no ten dollar supermarket wines selling for thirty five dollars. It is only open for evening meals Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sunday, but if I could give it 6 stars I would.
