This motel is located a few miles out of Paihia, on a highway junction. The road is fairly busy, but the units are extremely comfortable - big, shady, very well-appointed. There's a nice little pool (but be careful of the ladder getting in) that was perfect for a mid-afternoon wallow, screened from the road by good planting and fencing. If you're an animal lover, you'll enjoy the free-range chickens, all of whom are named of course, and who do a morning round of the occupied units, just in case there's a few crumbs going... there's also two Captain Cook pigs, a donkey, a horse, some goats, and probably more that I didn't see. The owners are delightful and very knowledgeable about the area and its attractions. There's a big cafe/country store just across the road, and Paihia is literally 15 minutes' drive away for all the shops and bars and eateries one could want. Location is perfect for exploring up to Kerikeri, Cape Reinga, and down to the Kauri forests on the west coast (but allow a good 2 hours each way for that, it's a LONG drive).
Wifi was very good and free, as is now normal for Kiwi holiday accommodation.
This one is definitely going on our list of places to stay in future.
