We rented a two bedroom unit this past weekend, and as always the hosts at Bay Of Islands Country Lodge Motel were extremely accommodating and pleasant to deal with. We had issues with our booking as we booked through a third party site, but the hosts at the Motel came to our rescue and managed to accommodate us none the less. The Motel itself, is very relaxing ... our boys enjoyed the pool and lazing in the hammock. The unit we stayed in was very spacious and well equipped. The location is ideal as it's located in the middle of Paihia and Kerikeri. The motel also has a spa. It was not our first visit to BOI Country Lodge Motel, and most definitely not our last!

Room Tip: The two bedroom unit is ideal for families (even teens) as their is sufficient space. There is also a little BBQ on the unit's private deck.

Wife and I stayed in Unit 1 for two nights. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Bathroom dated but everything works. Overall establishment a bit dated in appearance but that is misleading. Very helpful and pleasant owners.
And inexpensive!

Great experience and well worth the money spent! The host was very knowledgeable about what to do and where to go in the surrounding area. We are from the United States and it was great talking to the host and we were able to learn more about New Zealand. Comfortable beds and neat layout of the suite we stayed in. I not only would recommend this lodge for others to stay at but if I'm ever in the area again in this northern part of North Island, I wouldn't hesitate to stay yet again!

Family and friends from NZ and overseas stayed here while attending a wedding. Ed and Larraine are great hosts, the units are clean and tidy and being able to see and feed the farm animals was a highlight for some guests. Well situated out of town but only 15 minutes to Kerikeri, Paihia or Kawakawa.

This motel is located a few miles out of Paihia, on a highway junction. The road is fairly busy, but the units are extremely comfortable - big, shady, very well-appointed. There's a nice little pool (but be careful of the ladder getting in) that was perfect for a mid-afternoon wallow, screened from the road by good planting and fencing. If you're an animal lover, you'll enjoy the free-range chickens, all of whom are named of course, and who do a morning round of the occupied units, just in case there's a few crumbs going... there's also two Captain Cook pigs, a donkey, a horse, some goats, and probably more that I didn't see. The owners are delightful and very knowledgeable about the area and its attractions. There's a big cafe/country store just across the road, and Paihia is literally 15 minutes' drive away for all the shops and bars and eateries one could want. Location is perfect for exploring up to Kerikeri, Cape Reinga, and down to the Kauri forests on the west coast (but allow a good 2 hours each way for that, it's a LONG drive).
Wifi was very good and free, as is now normal for Kiwi holiday accommodation.

This one is definitely going on our list of places to stay in future.

Room Tip: Ask for a unit facing away from the road if possible.
