beautiful, soothing, restorative and inspiring

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Mar 2013
If you are looking for a roadside motel with a pool, a bar and a family restaurant, don't stop here. If you like the backpacker vibe, this wouldn't be the place for you. But if you are seeking sanctuary, silence, natural beauty, inspiring and welcoming hosts and time for reflection or creativity, book yourself into Ora Ora for a long stay. It might save your life or at least transform it. You will be nourished by a thousand shades of green, bird songs and the sound of the river. In fact, there really is no other sound. Bring some books or art supplies, a journal, your camera, some or your favorite music and your walking shoes. Enjoy the walks to Rainbow Falls, the Kerikeri Basin, the Maori Pa site and the shops, restaurants and cinema in town.
There are also many tourist activities to chose from and Rolf and Inge will help you make the appropriate bookings.
The chalets are very private, beautiful. comfortable and well-equipped (fridge, stove-top, washing machine) with views of the garden and forest from both the deck and large windows.

If you want to have a relaxing time in a warm atmosphere in your own cosy house, healthy food, and pampered by Inge + Rolf, go to Oraora Resort, Kerikeri! I learned a lot about their organic crater garden, herbs, great recipes and a lot about wellness. The area is fascinating. Next to the resort is a wonderful walk along the river to the rainbow fall. Aroha Island is not far, where you can watch Kiwis at night. People in that area are very friendly and helpful and Inge + Rolf accompany you to great beaches or fascinating Kauri trees, hot mud pools or baths in hot springs managed by Maori people, to the Bay of Island area with nice little towns and great Galleries. For me it was a Paradise and I will come again next year. Thanks to Inge + Rolf. Gisela Kress, Germany
