Description: Afternoons spent sitting in the sun, drinking freshly roasted coffee, laughing with friends, and listening to the birds sing. this is the heart of greytown. this is the main st. deli. enjoy our fresh home baking, taste our salads crafted from fresh seasonal ingredients, sample a range of artisanal deli foods, and take home a jar of our signature homemade preserves. we've also expanded our deli and given our courtyard garden a gorgeous makeover. head outdoors to the quiet rear courtyard, sit amongst the maples and enjoy all the main st. deli has to offer.

Very charming “coffeeshop”, not according our dutch definitions, but coffee, scones etc. Good service, nice chairs to sit on. Because all food is fresh prepared , they close after lunchtime they told me. So in the afternoon this and other nice place places are closed.
My question is ; where to support local economy to have proper coffee etc.
You can make much more money and pleasure out of this place.
Thx

Stopped off for lunch today I had Calamari salad yum. Unfortunately my husband ordered Corn Fritters with bacon & salad, he wasn’t enjoying the fritters very dry then he discovered chopped walnuts between the slaw & lettuce. He is allergic to Walnuts. Walnuts were not mentioned on the menu, the cafe was very busy so he took a piece to the counter to ask what it was the ageing gentleman said it was chick pea as they don’t use nuts. It was clearly was not chick pea !! we pointed out he did not have his epipen so needed to know exactly what nuts were in the salad in case he needed medical treatment. The old man had no idea how serious this could have been. He took no responsibility for the nuts being on the plate. Nut allergies are a very serious problem in NZ you should not own a restaurant or be a chef if you do not understand food safety.
We did not even get an apology. Will certainly not visit this place again

Have eaten many times in the past and food has been good. Both meals today could have been warmer. Coffee was good.
