Review of Hotel Balear

Staff were friendly but the room was very poor, air conditioning wasn't working correctly and was in bad need of an refresh. Breakfast was OK. Will I be coming back, probably not. Close to the airport.

Recently stayed at the Balear hotel before an early morning flight home. The foyer and reception areas of the hotel are nice and pleasant, however the room we had was not nice. It was very clean but that is where the positives ended. The room was extremely dark with a purple wall. The bed was like a cot bed and the mattress sagged in the middle, needs to be replaced. There were two parties going on in the rooms at either side of us at 1am. We were leaving at 4am and when I expressed my complaints to the man on reception he didn't really care. As we were leaving so early we didn't have breakfast. You get what you pay for. There are absolutely loads of hotels in the area and it is worth paying a bit more for a nicer place.

Best hotel breakfast ever: beans, scrambled eggs, fresh veggies (I haven't eaten such a tasty tomatoes literally in YEARS!), small, but SO tasty ensaimadas. Not much choice, but everything is so tasty and veggie friendly (compared to the standard "German / sausages" offer in Palma). => would 200% recommend even if you don't take a room here. And the old lady who was serving was extremely nice and friendly.
Reception opened 24/24: as a late traveller, a big THANK YOU!
Stable wifi in the room. Close to the airport (15min or so, about 15euros for a nightly road). Close to a small beach (sand).

Not-so-good points:
- In "normal/non-covid" times, I think the neighborhood can be quite loud: bars, party places. Got a room giving on a small place in front of the hotel, where people were hanging around.
- The room looks old (though clean), as well as the furniture (buttons on the TV remote control were worn out, but yeah, you don't come to Palma in order to watch TV).

Room tip: Forget the room and book the breakfast

We only stayed one day en route to Cala D'or. The staff were so helpful and went out of their way to look after us.The price is extremely reasonable. They even made us all a breakfast as we had missed a meal whilst flying.

I wanted to spend the Christmas in Spain (partly because I wanted some sunshine and warmth) and decided to stay here based on recommendations and its friendly budget. Had a late flight and got into the hotel from the airport in about 10mins, ride cost was about €15. Check in was smooth and easy, I was assigned room 407 which was the last floor (perfect I thought as I’ll have a great view of Palma from my balcony).
However, on my way up (I decided to walk the stairs) I noticed there was some sort of repair on the roof or ceiling and although it was wrapped with tarpaulin, I still felt they could have done better. Room was spacious and well arranged, the view was simply awesome. I liked the fact that pulling my curtains back, I had an unrestricted view of the street. However, my beddings still had traces of female hair probably from the last occupant. The hair seemed to reappear regardless of how many times it was cleaned. Well, I wasn’t pissed so I didn’t report the occurrence.
Breakfast in the morning was great with a variety of dishes and the symbolic Mallocan orange (you should try this). Lots of spas, shops around the area, there is a bus station close by that has buses going to almost everywhere on the island. The beach was a 4mins walk and although it was quite empty, no thanks to the celebrations, I enjoyed going every morning to catch the sunrise.
Hotel staffs were friendly, courteous and really nice. The young lady at the desk showed me where I could get really good kebabs for cheap as almost every other kebab shop had closed (it was 24th December). Check out time was 11am but my flight was until 9pm, they offered to help me keep my bags and a bathroom to shower when I was ready to leave, I was awed.
Loved every penny I spent on this hotel. Gracias Balear.

The Hotel was very good value for money. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, the beds and bed linen were comfortable and very fresh, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate. All in all I would recommend this Hotel for anyone who wants a cheap stop over for a couple of days in Palma. Taxi Rank nearby and easy to get to main Shopping Centres in Palma. We had a very comfortable stay for a very reasonable price. We will come back again.
